MotoGP 2025: Marc Márquez Targets More Glory as Hungary Returns with Balaton Park Debut

Balaton Park, Hungary – August 21, 2025 – All eyes are on Marc Márquez as MotoGP makes a historic return to Hungary for the first time since 1992. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider arrives at the brand-new Balaton Park Circuitfresh from his ninth win of the 2025 season and sixth consecutive victory, cementing his dominance at the top of the championship standings.

The Hungarian GP marks a true debut for the premier class at Balaton Park, a 4.08km circuit with 17 corners and a 665m straight, built on the shores of Lake Balaton. While Márquez tested the Panigale V4S here in early August, he admits that riding the Desmosedici GP will be a whole new challenge.

Márquez chasing history in Hungary

Márquez (418 points) has been in unstoppable form this season, and victory at the Austrian GP finally ticked another milestone off his career list. Now, he sets his sights on conquering uncharted territory in Hungary.

“I’m very happy I finally got the win in Austria with Ducati – it was missing from my list,” Márquez said. “At Balaton, we have no reference points apart from the Panigale test, and it will be a different story with the Desmosedici GP. Friday will be more challenging than usual, but I’m excited to meet the Hungarian fans and give them a great show.”

A new challenge for the champion

With MotoGP riders having no previous experience at Balaton Park, the opening Free Practice session on Friday, August 22nd at 10:45 a.m. local time will be crucial. Márquez’s ability to adapt quickly to new tracks could give him the edge as he looks to extend his winning streak and tighten his grip on the championship.

Ducati ready to back Márquez

The Ducati Lenovo Team sees Hungary as another opportunity to showcase Márquez’s form and their continued dominance in 2025. While teammate Francesco Bagnaia is focused on bouncing back after a tough Austrian GP, the spotlight firmly rests on Márquez as he attempts to secure a historic first premier-class victory on Hungarian soil.

With MotoGP returning to Hungary after 33 years, the Marc Márquez vs Balaton Park story is set to be the headline battle of the weekend.
