Trackhouse MotoGP Team rider Ai Ogura will miss this weekend’s Aragon Grand Prix after suffering a fracture to his left thumb that requires surgery.

The Japanese rider sustained the injury to his left hand while training in Japan during the second mini summer break in the 2026 MotoGP season. Following his arrival in Europe, medical examinations confirmed that the fracture close to his left thumb would require an operation.

Ogura underwent surgery on Thursday with Dr Mir and will now begin his recovery. The Trackhouse MotoGP Team is hoping that the 2025 Moto2 World Champion can return to action for the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano.

Ai Ogura Injury Rules Him Out of Aragon GP

Ogura’s injury is a significant setback for the Trackhouse MotoGP Team as the championship heads to MotorLand Aragon for this weekend’s Aragon Grand Prix.

The Japanese rider will be replaced by Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori, who will step in for Ogura at the Spanish circuit.

Speaking at MotorLand Aragon on Thursday, Trackhouse Team Principal Davide Brivio provided an update on Ogura’s condition and confirmed that the rider had already undergone surgery.

“On Thursday morning, he had an operation with Dr Mir. Now, we will see, but our desire is to have him back for Misano,” Brivio said.

“He broke the first metacarpal on his left thumb. I’m sure Ai will do his best to be back soon.”

Trackhouse Hopes for Ogura Return at Misano

The timing of Ogura’s injury means the Japanese rider will miss the Aragon GP, but Trackhouse is targeting a return at Misano if his recovery progresses as hoped.

The Misano Grand Prix will provide Ogura with a potential comeback opportunity, although his participation will depend on his recovery and medical clearance.

For now, the focus will be on allowing the Trackhouse rider to recover fully from the first metacarpal fracture in his left thumb.

Lorenzo Savadori to Replace Ogura at Aragon

With Ogura sidelined, Lorenzo Savadori will take over his Trackhouse MotoGP ride for the Aragon weekend.

The experienced Italian is Aprilia’s test rider and has considerable knowledge of the RS-GP machinery. His involvement will allow Trackhouse to maintain a full rider line-up for the Aragon GP despite Ogura’s absence.

Ogura’s injury comes at a crucial stage of the 2026 MotoGP championship, with the season entering another busy stretch following the second mini summer break.

The Trackhouse MotoGP Team will now hope its Japanese rider can make a swift recovery and return to the grid at Misano.
