Johannesburg, August 20, 2025 – Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV), a subsidiary of Tata Motors and one of India’s largest automotive manufacturers, has officially re-entered the South African passenger vehicle market. The high-profile launch event at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, unveiled four exciting models—the Tata Harrier, Tata Curvv, Tata Punch, and Tata Tiago—marking the beginning of a bold new chapter for the brand in South Africa.

This comeback is powered by a strategic alliance with Motus Holdings, South Africa’s leading automotive group, ensuring strong nationwide distribution, retail presence, and aftersales support. TMPV has witnessed remarkable growth in India, scaling sales from 170,000 units in 2020 to more than 560,000 units in 2025—a 350% surge. With all its passenger vehicles rated 4- or 5-star by Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP, Tata Motors enters South Africa with a strong reputation for safety, technology, and reliability.

Tata Motors Line-up for South Africa

  • Tata Harrier – A premium full-sized SUV featuring a 2.0-litre Kryotec turbocharged engine (125kW, 350Nm), modern interiors with 10.25/12.3-inch touchscreens, wireless connectivity, ventilated seats, ADAS with 20 features, and premium safety equipment.
  • Tata Curvv – A coupe-inspired SUV powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol engine (88kW, 170Nm), available with manual or DCA automatic transmissions. It offers bold design, a digital cockpit, customizable mood lighting, and six airbags for uncompromised safety.
  • Tata Punch – A compact SUV with five variants, powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine (65kW, 115Nm). Features include 90-degree opening doors, infotainment options up to 10.5 inches, and robust safety features including ESP and ABS with EBD.
  • Tata Tiago – A youthful compact hatchback with a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine (63kW, 113Nm) and manual/AMT options. It offers tech-rich features like a digital instrument cluster, reverse camera, and smart connectivity.
