Kia India August 2026 Sales Rise 48.1% to 29,042 Units; Sorento Launch Set for September 4
September 1, 2026: Kia India has reported a 48.1% year-on-year growth in wholesale sales for August 2026, dispatching 29,042 vehicles compared with 19,608 units in August 2025. The latest performance marks the automaker’s best-ever August wholesale numbers since entering the Indian market.
The strong August performance takes Kia India’s year-to-date (YTD) wholesales for 2026 to 220,991 units, representing a 20.1% increase over the 183,882 units sold during the corresponding period last year.
The company said sustained demand for its SUV portfolio, along with growing interest in electric vehicles, continues to support its sales momentum in India.
Seltos and Sonet Continue to Drive Kia Sales
Kia India’s sales performance continues to be led by the Seltos and Sonet, which remain key volume drivers for the automaker.
The Seltos has been averaging more than 10,000 units per month since its launch in January, according to Kia India. The SUV continues to attract buyers with its combination of design, technology and features in the mid-size SUV segment.
The Sonet has also maintained strong customer demand in the sub-compact SUV segment. Kia says both models remain customer favourites within its mass-premium portfolio.
The company added that the Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV are also contributing to its overall sales momentum, supported by sustained demand from customers looking for feature-rich family vehicles and electrified mobility solutions.
Kia Syros EV Receives Strong Buyer Response
Kia India has also highlighted the encouraging response to the newly launched Syros EV, as demand for electric vehicles continues to grow among Indian consumers.
The Syros EV expands Kia’s electric vehicle portfolio and provides customers with another powertrain option alongside its existing range. The company believes the growing acceptance of EVs reflects changing consumer preferences and increased interest in electrified mobility.
Kia is also positioning its EV ownership proposition around three key concerns for customers — upfront cost, battery longevity and resale value.
Its EV ownership package includes an Assured Buyback programme, Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) and a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty. The company says these initiatives are aimed at making EV ownership more accessible and reducing concerns associated with battery life and long-term ownership.
Kia Sorento India Launch on September 4
Kia India is preparing to expand its premium SUV portfolio further with the launch of the Kia Sorento in India on September 4, 2026.
The Sorento will be Kia’s first hybrid SUV for the Indian market, while also being offered with a diesel powertrain. The three-row SUV will mark Kia’s entry into a new premium segment in India.
The upcoming Sorento is expected to target customers seeking a larger and more premium SUV, strengthening Kia’s presence in the premium three-row SUV space.
Commenting on the company’s August performance, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said the strong results reflected continued customer trust and the relevance of the company’s evolving product portfolio.
Sood highlighted the sustained demand for the Seltos and Sonet, while noting the encouraging response to the Syros EV as a sign of growing customer acceptance of electric mobility.
He also said Kia’s ownership initiatives, including Assured Buyback, Battery-as-a-Service and the Lifetime Battery Warranty, are designed to address key concerns around EV ownership.
According to Sood, the upcoming Sorento launch will further strengthen Kia’s premium mobility proposition in India.
