Aprilia Dominates Jerez MotoGP Test as Ai Ogura Tops Timesheets, Ducati Debuts Upgrades
Jerez, Spain, April 28, 2026: Following an action-packed Spanish Grand Prix MotoGP 2026 weekend, MotoGP teams wasted no time returning to the track for a crucial one-day official test at the iconic Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto. With development races heating up across the grid, it was Aprilia Racing that stole the spotlight, locking out the top three positions.
Ogura Leads Trackhouse 1-2, Aprilia Claims Top Three
Japanese rookie Ai Ogura emerged as the fastest rider of the day, clocking a stunning 1:35.944 to edge out teammate Raul Fernandez by just 0.005 seconds, securing a 1-2 finish for Trackhouse MotoGP Team. Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi completed an impressive Aprilia 1-2-3 in third place.
Despite a minor crash at Turn 11, Bezzecchi walked away unhurt and continued to showcase Aprilia’s growing strength. The Noale factory team also introduced a revised front fairing, alongside several undisclosed updates aimed at boosting performance.
Ducati Tests New Aero and Chassis Updates
Over at Ducati Lenovo Team, development was in full swing as multiple upgrades—including new front aero, side fairings, and a modified chassis—were evaluated. Marc Marquez, returning after his Sunday crash, finished fourth while focusing on improving front-end feel—an ongoing challenge for Ducati in 2026.
Race winner Alex Marquez secured sixth, while Fabio Di Giannantonio (P8) and Francesco Bagnaia (P10) rounded out a busy day for the Italian manufacturer.
KTM, Yamaha and Honda Continue Development Push
Pedro Acosta led Red Bull KTM Factory Racing efforts in fifth, while test rider Dani Pedrosa logged valuable laps. Meanwhile, Yamaha continued refining its V4 project, with Fabio Quartararo finishing seventh and showing improved pace over the race weekend.
Honda endured a quieter session, focusing on data collection rather than outright pace. Veteran Johann Zarco led their charge in ninth, followed by rookie Diogo Moreira.
Eyes on Le Mans After Productive Jerez Test
With multiple upgrades tested and promising pace shown—especially from Aprilia and Trackhouse—the MotoGP paddock now shifts focus to the next round at French Grand Prix MotoGP 2026 in Le Mans.
Aprilia’s commanding performance at Jerez signals a potential shift in the competitive order, while Ducati’s aggressive development push suggests the battle at the top is far from settled.
