RTL Deutschland Secures Exclusive MotoGP Broadcast Rights in Germany from 2027 to 2030

RTL Deutschland has announced a landmark extension of its partnership with MotoGP, securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the FIM MotoGP World Championship in Germany from the 2027 through 2030 seasons. The new agreement will make RTL Deutschland the exclusive home of MotoGP in Germany while also bringing selected premier-class races to free-to-air television for the first time in the country’s history.

The long-term agreement significantly expands MotoGP’s reach in Germany by combining comprehensive pay-TV coverage with free-to-air broadcasts, allowing more fans than ever before to experience the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship.

Under the new rights package, Sky Sport will continue to broadcast every MotoGP Grand Prix, Tissot Sprint, qualifying session and practice session live throughout the four-year period. Fans will also continue to enjoy complete live coverage of every Moto2 and Moto3 race, qualifying and practice session.

In addition to the three Grand Prix classes, the agreement includes live coverage of the Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup, the Moto4 Northern Cup and the Red Bull Rookies Cup. German motorsport enthusiasts will also be able to follow the progress of promising 16-year-old rider Fynn Kratochwil, who competes in the Red Bull Rookies Cup.

Beyond Germany, RTL Deutschland has also secured a long-term extension of MotoGP pay-TV broadcasting rights for Austria and Switzerland, strengthening the championship’s presence across the DACH region.

Hans Gabbe, Senior Vice President of Sports Rights & Commercialization at RTL Deutschland, said the broadcaster is excited to build on the success of the past three years by offering MotoGP exclusively while introducing free-to-air coverage for selected races.

He highlighted RTL Deutschland’s growing motorsport portfolio, which also includes Formula 1, the IndyCar Series and the World Rally Championship (WRC), providing fans with access to some of the world’s biggest racing series.

MotoGP’s Head of Media Rights, Alex Arroyo, described the renewed agreement as an important step in expanding the championship’s footprint in Germany.

He praised RTL Deutschland for delivering high-quality coverage across multiple platforms and said the extended partnership, together with Sky, would help bring MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 to an even wider audience while continuing to grow the sport’s popularity throughout Germany and neighbouring markets.

The broadcasting rights cover all distribution platforms across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They also include commercial public screening rights through Sky Business, enabling MotoGP races to be shown in bars, restaurants, hotels and other public venues.

The agreement represents a significant boost for MotoGP’s media strategy in one of Europe’s key motorcycle racing markets. By combining exclusive pay-TV coverage with free-to-air broadcasts for selected MotoGP races, the championship is expected to reach a broader audience while maintaining comprehensive live coverage for dedicated fans.

With the new deal taking effect from the 2027 season, German viewers can look forward to watching every moment of the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 action, alongside support championships, as RTL Deutschland and Sky Sport continue to expand the sport’s visibility across the region.
