Tesla Opens First Experience Center in Chennai, Expands Model Y Presence in India

Chennai, India, September 25, 2026: Tesla has opened its first Tesla Experience Center in Chennai, marking another step in the electric carmaker’s expansion of its retail and after-sales network in India. Located at Express Avenue Mall on Pattullos Road, the new facility allows customers in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu to experience Tesla vehicles, book their cars and access delivery support locally.

Tesla has also expanded its after-sales capabilities in Chennai with a Tesla-Approved Collision Center and service facilities in Poonamallee. The company says the new facilities are designed to provide Tesla owners with access to genuine parts, trained technicians, software-aware diagnostics and collision repairs carried out according to Tesla standards.

The Chennai expansion is intended to provide Tesla customers with a more complete local ownership experience while reducing vehicle downtime and supporting Tesla’s country-wide service and warranty coverage.

Tesla Chennai Experience Center offers test drives and deliveries

The new Tesla Experience Center in Chennai will provide customers with local consultations, test drives and vehicle delivery support.

The Tesla-Approved Collision Center in Poonamallee will complement the retail facility by offering professional collision repair and bodywork, genuine Tesla parts and approved repair procedures.

According to Tesla, these services are intended to help maintain vehicle safety, performance and resale value throughout the ownership lifecycle.

The Chennai facilities add to Tesla’s growing network of locations in India, with Experience Centers already operating in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi, along with a Tesla Center in Gurugram.

Tesla Model Y Premium priced at ₹50.89 lakh

Customers visiting Tesla’s Chennai Experience Center can experience the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, which offers seating for up to five passengers and up to 2,138 litres of storage space.

The Model Y Premium RWD can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and offers a claimed range of up to 500 km under the WLTP cycle.

In India, the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive is priced at ₹50.89 lakh. Tesla is also offering financing options with a down payment starting at ₹6 lakh and indicative monthly EMI starting at ₹39,990.

The vehicle features versatile seating and power-folding rear seats, allowing the available cargo space to be configured according to passenger and luggage requirements.

Tesla Model Y L offers six-seat, three-row configuration

Tesla is also showcasing the Model Y L, an all-wheel-drive SUV aimed at customers seeking a larger family vehicle.

The Model Y L features a three-row, six-seat configuration, with Tesla focusing on increased headroom, legroom and passenger comfort.

The SUV offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 681 km and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds. Its cargo capacity can extend to 2,539 litres.

The Model Y L is priced from ₹61.99 lakh in India, with a down payment starting at ₹6.5 lakh and an indicative monthly EMI starting at ₹49,990.

Tesla’s financing figures are subject to financier approval and are based on a seven-year tenure and 8.5% APR under a step-up EMI plan.

Tesla expands OTA features in India

Both Model Y variants also benefit from Tesla’s Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates, which allow the company to introduce new features and improvements without requiring owners to visit a service center for every software upgrade.

Tesla says customers in India can also access Grok, its AI assistant, through compatible vehicles. Grok is available in several Indian languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu and Kannada.

With the addition of Chennai, customers can now visit Tesla locations across several major Indian cities to experience its vehicles and schedule test drives.
