Raul Fernandez Secures Stunning Assen MotoGP Sprint Victory as Trackhouse Aprilia Dominates with Historic 1-2

Assen, The Netherlands, June 27, 2026: Raul Fernandez delivered one of the standout performances of the 2026 MotoGP season by claiming a sensational Tissot Sprint victory at the Dutch TT in Assen, leading a historic 1-2 finish for the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team alongside teammate Ai Ogura.

Starting fourth on the grid, Fernandez produced a flawless ride to overhaul the front-runners before pulling clear to secure his maiden Sprint victory. Rookie sensation Ogura finished second after a late charge, while Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) completed the podium following an intense battle with the Aprilia factory riders.

The result capped a dream Saturday for Trackhouse Aprilia, underlining the manufacturer’s growing strength in the 2026 MotoGP World Championship.

Jorge Martin Leads Early Before Fernandez Takes Control

The Sprint began with Ai Ogura making an excellent launch from second on the grid to grab the holeshot. However, polesitter Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) immediately fought back to reclaim the lead during the opening lap.

Behind the leading duo, Fernandez wasted little time climbing into contention, while championship leader Marco Bezzecchi briefly ran wide, allowing Di Giannantonio to move ahead after also overtaking Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team). Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) remained firmly in the leading group as the opening laps unfolded.

Fernandez made his decisive move on Lap 2, overtaking teammate Ogura before setting his sights on Martin. One lap later, the race exploded into life at Assen’s famous final chicane as Fernandez attacked Martin for the lead while Di Giannantonio simultaneously passed Ogura, with all four riders running side by side onto the main straight.

Trackhouse Riders Showcase Superior Pace

Martin’s challenge began to fade after a small mistake on Lap 4 opened the door for Di Giannantonio and Ogura to move ahead.

While Di Giannantonio initially chased Fernandez, Ogura steadily recovered his rhythm and closed the gap before executing a perfectly judged pass at the final chicane to move into second place.

That set up an all-Trackhouse battle for victory over the closing laps.

Fernandez, however, remained composed under pressure, maintaining a comfortable advantage despite Ogura trimming the deficit on the final lap. The Spaniard crossed the finish line six-tenths of a second ahead of his teammate to seal a memorable Sprint triumph.

Di Giannantonio Holds Off Championship Leader Bezzecchi

Behind the dominant Trackhouse duo, Di Giannantonio produced a strong defensive ride to secure third place despite sustained pressure from championship leader Marco Bezzecchi.

The Aprilia factory rider narrowly missed the podium in fourth after making significant late-race progress.

Further back, Jorge Martin successfully defended fifth position from Francesco Bagnaia in an intense drag race to the finish line, crossing just 0.061 seconds ahead of the Italian.

Marc Marquez finished seventh after battling throughout the Sprint, with Enea Bastianini taking eighth.

Pedro Acosta completed an impressive recovery from 15th after an early mistake to claim ninth place and the final championship point.
