Red Bull Junior Team Signs Rising Stars Chiara Bättig and Mattia Colnaghi

Salzburg, Austria – August 20, 2025 – The Red Bull Junior Team has added two new rising stars to its ranks, announcing the signings of Chiara Bättig and Mattia Colnaghi as part of its continued commitment to nurturing the next generation of motorsport talent.

Swiss driver Chiara Bättig, just 15 years old, will graduate from karting to Formula 4 (F4) in 2026 after impressing at the recent Red Bull Driver Search in Portugal. Meanwhile, Italian-Argentinian racer Mattia Colnaghi, 17, will step up from Eurocup-3 to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2026.

Chiara Bättig: From Karting to F4

Bättig’s inclusion follows a strong showing at the Red Bull Driver Search, where she drove a single-seater for the first time. The three-day program tested young drivers’ adaptability both on and off track, and Bättig stood out for her speed and composure.

“It means a lot to me to be a Red Bull Junior Driver,” said Bättig. “My ultimate goal is to reach Formula One and become World Champion. I also hope to inspire young female karters to follow the same journey I am making now.”

Dr. Helmut Marko, Head of Red Bull Junior Driver Programme, was equally impressed:

“This was Chiara’s first time in a Formula car, and her performance was very good. The speed she showed means we are looking forward to a very successful season.”

Mattia Colnaghi: On the Road to Formula 3

Colnaghi, who debuted in cars in 2024, has already made his mark by winning the Spanish F4 Championship in his rookie season with six victories. Currently leading the Eurocup-3 standings, the teenager has been earmarked as a strong contender for future success.

“Being selected as a Red Bull Junior Driver means a pathway to my ultimate goal—becoming a Formula One World Champion with Red Bull,” Colnaghi said.

Dr. Marko added:

“Mattia is leading Eurocup-3 and will move to F3. As always, our goal is for our drivers to be frontrunners and, if possible, win championships.”

Red Bull Junior Team Legacy

Since its creation in 2001, the Red Bull Junior Team has developed the careers of 22 Formula One drivers, including current Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen and Visa Cash App RB duo Yuki Tsunoda, Liam Lawson, and Isack Hadjar. With 13 drivers currently in the program—five competing alongside F1 in F2 and F3—the Junior Team remains a cornerstone of Red Bull’s long-term motorsport strategy.
