Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Named Top Automobile Exporter by Mumbai Port Authority for FY 2025-26
Pune, India, June 16, 2026: Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has been recognised as the ‘Automobile: Top Exporter’ for FY 2025-26 by the Mumbai Port Authority, highlighting the company’s growing contribution to India’s automotive export ecosystem and its role in strengthening the country’s position as a global vehicle manufacturing hub.
The award was presented during the Mumbai Port Authority’s Business Conclave with Partners, following SAVWIPL’s milestone achievement of exporting more than 40,000 vehicles through Mumbai Port during FY 2025-26.
Export Success Reinforces ‘Make in India’ Vision
The recognition underscores SAVWIPL’s commitment to its “Make in India, for India and the World” strategy, which has transformed India into a key production and export base for the Volkswagen Group.
The award was received by Amit Madan, Vice President – Logistics Region India, on behalf of SAVWIPL. It was presented by Dr. M. Angamuthu and Adesh Titarmare during the conclave.
Mumbai Port continues to play a critical role in SAVWIPL’s export operations, serving as a strategic gateway for shipments to international markets across multiple continents.
Over 725,000 Made-in-India Vehicles Exported Globally
The latest honour follows SAVWIPL’s earlier recognition as the Mumbai Port Authority’s Top Exporter for 2023-24, reflecting sustained export growth over recent years.
To date, the company has exported more than 725,000 vehicles manufactured in India to markets across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America. The achievement aligns closely with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative and demonstrates the increasing global acceptance of vehicles engineered and built in the country.
SAVWIPL Strengthens India’s Position in Global Supply Chain
Commenting on the award, Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of SAVWIPL, said the recognition validates the company’s strong export momentum and operational excellence across its manufacturing and logistics ecosystem.
According to Arora, India has evolved into a significant global export hub for the Group, with local manufacturing facilities playing an increasingly important role in the company’s international production and supply network.
Taigun, Virtus, Kushaq and Slavia Drive Export Growth
SAVWIPL’s export portfolio includes popular made-in-India models such as the Volkswagen Taigun, Volkswagen Virtus, Škoda Kushaq and Škoda Slavia.
In addition to exporting fully built vehicles, the company is expanding shipments of automotive parts and components to support local assembly operations in international markets. This strategy is helping deepen India’s integration into the Volkswagen Group’s global manufacturing ecosystem.
Expansion into New Markets Continues
As part of its long-term international growth strategy, SAVWIPL is also exploring new export opportunities and recently expanded its presence into the Sri Lankan market.
With vehicle exports continuing to rise and India’s manufacturing capabilities gaining global recognition, the latest award further cements SAVWIPL’s position among the country’s leading automotive exporters while reinforcing India’s status as a key hub for global automobile production and exports.
