Tata Motors Q2 FY27 Sales Rise 40% to 2.02 Lakh Units
Mumbai, India, October 1, 2026: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. recorded its highest-ever quarterly sales of 201,723 units in Q2 FY27, registering a 40% year-on-year increase over the 144,397 units sold in Q2 FY26. The company said strong demand across its portfolio, particularly for greener powertrains, supported growth during the quarter.
The company also crossed the 70,000-unit monthly sales milestone in September 2026, with total passenger vehicle sales, including international business, reaching 70,210 units compared with 60,907 units in September 2025.
Tata Motors passenger vehicle sales Q2 FY27
Tata Motors’ domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 196,674 units in Q2 FY27, compared with 140,189 units in the corresponding quarter last year.
International business contributed 5,049 units during the quarter, taking total passenger vehicle sales to 201,723 units.

In September, Tata Motors recorded total passenger vehicle sales of 70,210 units, up 15% from 60,907 units in September 2025.
The company said passenger vehicle demand remained strong despite the quarter traditionally being a softer period. It also pointed to industry Vahan volumes growing by around 24% year-on-year following GST 2.0.
Tata Motors EV sales jump 90%
Electric vehicles continued to be a major growth driver for Tata Motors during Q2 FY27.
The company recorded 47,150 EV sales in Q2 FY27, compared with 24,855 units in Q2 FY26, representing 90% year-on-year growth. September EV sales stood at 15,384 units, up 67% from 9,191 units in September 2025.

Tata Motors said EV penetration in its passenger vehicle portfolio increased to 23%, compared with around 8% for the overall industry.
CNG models also recorded their highest-ever quarterly sales and accounted for 28% of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle volumes.
Together, EV and CNG vehicles contributed 51% of the company’s passenger vehicle sales during the quarter.
Punch remains a key Tata Motors model
Tata Motors said the Punch emerged as India’s highest-selling SUV during Q2 FY27, while customer response remained strong across its wider portfolio.
The company also expanded its product range following its Q1 launches with the introduction of the Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series and all-new Tata Aeris.
During the quarter, Tata Motors also unveiled its new customer-facing identity, TATA.CARS, as part of its efforts to evolve its brand positioning.
Tata Motors commercial vehicle sales grow 43%
Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle business also recorded strong growth during Q2 FY27.
Total commercial vehicle sales, including international business, reached 135,114 units in Q2 FY27, compared with 94,681 units in Q2 FY26, marking a 42.7% year-on-year increase.
Domestic commercial vehicle sales grew 30.9% to 113,982 units from 87,061 units.
International business was particularly strong, rising 177.3% to 21,132 units from 7,620 units a year earlier.

MH&ICV segment posts strong growth
Domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV) increased to 22,616 units in September 2026, compared with 15,669 units in September 2025, representing 44.3% growth.
For Q2 FY27, domestic MH&ICV sales stood at 55,582 units, up 34.1% from 41,461 units in Q2 FY26.
Including international sales, MH&ICV volumes increased 42.7% in September to 23,910 units, while Q2 FY27 volumes rose 31.3% to 59,194 units.
Tata Motors enters festive season with strong momentum
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said Q2 FY27 was the company’s highest-ever quarter, with 201,723 units and 40% year-on-year growth.
He highlighted the strong performance of EVs and CNG vehicles, with the two greener powertrain options together accounting for 51% of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle sales.
The company said it enters the festive season with a strong order book and healthy customer traction, while progressively scaling up production to meet demand.
Girish Wagh, MD & CEO, Tata Motors Ltd., said the commercial vehicle business has built broad-based momentum over the past 12 months, supported by its product portfolio, technology-led innovation and customer understanding.
With both its passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle businesses delivering strong Q2 FY27 growth, Tata Motors enters the festive season with increased sales momentum across multiple segments.
