Royal Automobile Club to Celebrate 100 Years of British Grand Prix Racing with Special Concours Display
England, June 30, 2026: Historic Delage 15-S-8 and championship-winning McLaren MCL39A will headline the Royal Automobile Club Concours as Britain marks the centenary of its first-ever Grand Prix.
The Royal Automobile Club will commemorate 100 years of Grand Prix racing in Britain with a landmark display at its Club Concours at Woodcote Park on July 8, 2026, celebrating a century since the country’s first-ever Grand Prix was staged.
The showcase will feature two iconic Grand Prix-winning race cars spanning nearly a century of motorsport history, alongside the prestigious British Grand Prix Trophy, creating one of the highlights of this year’s motoring calendar.
Celebrating 100 Years Since Britain’s First Grand Prix
The event marks the centenary of the 1926 Grand Prix of the Royal Automobile Club, which was held at Brooklands—widely regarded as the birthplace of British motor racing.
Organised by the Royal Automobile Club, the race was Britain’s first international Grand Prix and played a pivotal role in establishing the United Kingdom as one of the world’s leading motorsport nations.
The centenary celebrations will continue throughout 2026 with appearances at the Brooklands Centenary event in August and the St James’s Motoring Spectacle in London later in October.
Delage and McLaren to Share the Spotlight
Taking centre stage at Woodcote Park will be two legendary Grand Prix machines representing different eras of racing excellence.
The display will feature:
- Delage 15-S-8 – one of the original factory race cars that secured victory for Delage during the inaugural 1926 Grand Prix season.
- McLaren MCL39A – the Formula 1 challenger driven by Lando Norris during his championship-winning 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship campaign.
The pairing symbolises a century of Grand Prix innovation, from the pioneering machines of the 1920s to today’s cutting-edge Formula 1 technology.
British Grand Prix Trophy to Be Displayed
Adding further significance to the exhibition will be the British Grand Prix Trophy, the iconic gold-plated silver trophy awarded annually to the winner of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone Circuit.
As the Club Concours takes place just three days after the 2026 British Grand Prix, the trophy will already bear the name of this year’s Silverstone winner, giving visitors an immediate connection to Formula 1’s latest chapter.
More Than 200 Exceptional Vehicles on Display
Beyond the headline anniversary display, the Royal Automobile Club Concours will feature around 70 concours entrants, judged by a panel of leading automotive experts across seven competition categories.
The event will ultimately showcase more than 200 vehicles, including:
- Rare classic automobiles
- Historic racing cars
- Vintage motorcycles
- Anniversary exhibits
- Historic engines
- Modern supercars
The prestigious concours will culminate in the presentation of the coveted Best in Show award.
RM Sotheby’s Auction Debuts at Woodcote Park
For the first time, the event will also host the RM Sotheby’s Woodcote Park Auction, giving collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to bid on a selection of significant collector vehicles during the concours.
The addition further enhances what is expected to be one of the UK’s premier automotive lifestyle events of 2026.
Tickets Available for Royal Automobile Club Members
The Club Concours remains open to members of the Royal Automobile Club, as well as members of invited car clubs and motoring organisations.
Guests can also choose an enhanced hospitality package, offering premium access and hospitality throughout the day against the scenic backdrop of Woodcote Park and the Epsom Downs.
With the centenary of Britain’s first Grand Prix providing the central theme, this year’s Royal Automobile Club Concours promises a fitting tribute to a century of British motorsport history while bringing together some of the most iconic racing machines ever built.
