Akshat Misra Secures Senior Max Crown as Meco Meritus Cup 2026 Ends in Coimbatore

Coimbatore, India, June 8, 2026: Bengaluru racer Akshat Misra emerged as the Senior Max champion after a strong performance in the third and final round of the 2026 Meco Meritus Cup at the CoASTT Kartomania Circuit in Coimbatore on Sunday.

Representing Peregrine Racing, Misra combined consistency with speed to secure the championship title. After finishing third in Sprint Race 1, he bounced back impressively to win Sprint Race 2 and conclude the three-round championship with 85 points.

The Meco Meritus Cup serves as a key preparatory series ahead of the National Rotax Max Karting Championship and witnessed intense competition across the Senior Max, Mini Max and Micro Max categories.

Akshat Misra Clinches Senior Max Championship

Misra entered the final round with the title battle still open and delivered when it mattered most. His podium finish in the opening sprint race and victory in the second race ensured he finished atop the standings.

Chennai’s Shivaan Karthik finished second in the championship, while Mumbai’s Kiaan Shah secured third overall.

Shiv Tummala Retains Mini Max Title

Hyderabad’s Shiv Tummala continued his dominant run in the Mini Max category by winning both sprint races during the final round.

The Peregrine Racing driver displayed remarkable consistency throughout the championship and comfortably retained his title with a total of 96 points.

Aarav Sureka Wins Micro Max Championship

Mumbai youngster Aarav Sureka claimed the Micro Max championship despite not winning either sprint race in the final round.

Sureka’s second-place finish in Sprint Race 1 and fifth-place result in Sprint Race 2 provided enough points to secure the title with 78 points.

Bengaluru’s Zidaan Arshaan Anees won both sprint races but ultimately finished six points behind Sureka in the overall standings.

Rivaan Dev Preetham Claims Indian Karting Academy Trophy

The Indian Karting Academy (IKA) Trophy, which ran concurrently with the Meritus Cup, saw Chennai’s Rivaan Dev Preetham emerge champion in the OK Junior category.

Although Rivaan finished second in both the Super Heat and Final Race, his consistency across the championship helped him secure the title with 99 points.

The OK Junior category provides young Indian drivers an opportunity to gain experience with FIA-homologated OK-J engines and OTK chassis, mirroring the machinery used in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
