MotoGP Season Launch in Kuala Lumpur Draws 20,000 Fans for Spectacular Downtown Show Run
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – MotoGP kicked off the 2026 season in spectacular style as the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship took over downtown Kuala Lumpur for a two-day Season Launch celebration, attracting an estimated 20,000 fans to the Malaysian capital.
The festivities began on Friday evening with an exclusive opening party at the Permata Sapura Tower, offering panoramic views of the city skyline. Riders and team members walked the red carpet in black-tie attire, greeting fans and media as MotoGP brought glamour and excitement to the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Throughout Friday, MotoGP machines were displayed across the city, building anticipation for Saturday night’s highly anticipated Show Run. Despite rain ahead of the event, conditions improved just in time for engines to fire up, adding drama to the city-centre spectacle.
The Show Run officially started at 19:30, with the first bikes rolling out at 20:00. Team by team, riders completed two show laps through fan-lined streets, showcasing their machines and entertaining the crowd with stylish displays before arriving on stage to meet supporters.
The evening also featured live performances by award-winning British band The Script, DJ PAWSA, and Malaysian pop group DOLLA, turning the Season Launch into a full-scale motorsport and music festival. The event concluded with the riders joining The Script on stage for a final photo opportunity, wrapping up the launch in style.
With the 2026 MotoGP season now officially underway, fans can look forward to the Buriram Test in Thailand, scheduled for March 1. With 22 Grands Prix on the calendar, the upcoming season is poised to deliver another year of high-speed drama and historic moments.
