The twin launch marks another step in Hero MotoCorp’s premiumisation strategy, with both motorcycles receiving significant technology upgrades aimed at young riders and performance enthusiasts. Highlights include ride-by-wire throttle control, multiple riding modes, cruise control, enhanced braking safety and updated TFT instrument consoles.
Bookings for both motorcycles open on October 17, 2026, while deliveries are scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026.
Anuj Dua, Chief Business Officer – Premium Segment at Hero MotoCorp, said the Xtreme family remains a key pillar of the company’s premium strategy. He highlighted the new Xtreme 160R 4V’s segment-first cruise control and Panic Brake Alert, alongside the Xtreme 250R’s quickshifter, four riding modes, tyre pressure monitoring system and Frequency Selective Damping suspension.
Hero Xtreme 160R 4V: Design, Engine and Features
The all-new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V represents a comprehensive redesign of the motorcycle, which first entered the market in 2023. It adopts the company’s Cybersharp design language, featuring sharper tank shrouds, revised bodywork, a muscular fuel tank and a more aggressive streetfighter stance.
The lighting package includes a full-LED headlamp with an ambient light sensor, projector high beam, signature H-shaped daytime running lights, an H-shaped LED tail lamp and LED turn indicators. Red and black front wheel rim options add further visual differentiation.
Power comes from a 163cc, four-valve, oil-cooled engine producing 17.1 PS at 8,750 rpm and 14.6 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Hero MotoCorp claims the motorcycle is the fastest in its segment, accelerating from 0 to 60 km/h in 4.4 seconds.
The engine features a finned oil cooler designed to maintain thermal stability during extended riding. The company also highlights reduced maintenance requirements, with no engine oil change or tappet adjustment required until 6,000 km.
Ride-by-Wire and Three Riding Modes
One of the major upgrades to the Xtreme 160R 4V is its electronic ride-by-wire throttle system, which enables three riding modes: Rain, Road and Sport.
Rain mode provides softer throttle response for slippery conditions, Road mode is tuned for balanced everyday riding, and Sport mode offers sharper throttle response.
The motorcycle also becomes the first in its segment to feature cruise control, allowing riders to maintain a selected speed with less effort during longer journeys. A Panic Brake Alert system activates a warning to surrounding traffic during sudden, hard braking.
Braking duties are handled by a 276mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, supported by dual-channel ABS. Suspension comprises 37mm KYB upside-down front forks and a seven-step preload-adjustable rear monoshock.
New TFT Display and Connectivity
The updated Xtreme 160R 4V gets a TFT instrument console displaying riding modes, gear position, shift advisory, cruise control status, distance to empty and real-time fuel economy. Automatic brightness adjustment improves visibility in different lighting conditions.
Bluetooth connectivity adds call and message alerts, music functions, phone battery status and turn-by-turn navigation. Other features include illuminated soft-touch switchgear, hazard lights, an integrated kill-start switch and a Type-C charger.
Hero MotoCorp has also revised the riding ergonomics, including the seat and rider triangle, to improve comfort and ground reach. The seat measures 642.9mm in length, an increase of 16mm, with single-seat and split-seat options available.
Hero Xtreme 250R: More Technology for the 250cc Segment
The refreshed Hero Xtreme 250R receives styling and equipment upgrades while retaining its 250cc liquid-cooled engine. The motorcycle features gold-anodised front forks, carbon-fibre hydro-dipped panels, coloured rims with rim tapes, revised graphics and embossed detailing.
Hero MotoCorp says the update includes more than 50 fit-and-finish enhancements, including refined component finishes, braided cables and a new swingarm tail cover.
The motorcycle is powered by a 250cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve DOHC engine producing 30 PS at 9,250 rpm and 25.3 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The company claims a 0–60 km/h acceleration time of 3.2 seconds, positioning it as the fastest motorcycle in its segment.
Four Riding Modes, Quickshifter and Cruise Control
The refreshed Xtreme 250R introduces cruise control, allowing riders to maintain a set speed without continuously operating the throttle.
Another major addition is Hero MotoCorp’s sensorless bi-directional quickshifter, which enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts without requiring the rider to close the throttle.
The motorcycle also offers four riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport and Track. These modes adjust the motorcycle’s response to suit different riding conditions, from slippery roads and daily commuting to spirited riding and track use.
A tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) displays real-time tyre pressure and temperature, with colour-coded alerts when readings fall outside the specified range.
Frequency Selective Damping Suspension
A key highlight of the refreshed Xtreme 250R is its Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) rear suspension, which Hero MotoCorp describes as an industry-first application in the two-wheeler segment.
The system uses an additional FSD piston to provide two rebound-damping profiles based on the frequency of road inputs. The objective is to improve comfort over broken surfaces while maintaining tyre contact and stability through corners.
The motorcycle continues to use a rigid trellis frame and 43mm upside-down front forks for handling and directional control.
A new full-colour TFT instrument console adds Bluetooth connectivity, call and message alerts, phone battery information and turn-by-turn navigation. The display also incorporates lap and drag timers. Updated switchgear includes a dedicated riding-mode selector, hazard lights, cruise control switches and an integrated kill-start function.
