Carlos Ezpeleta has been closely involved with MotoGP for more than a decade and has played a key role in the championship’s international expansion, commercial development and growth of its worldwide fanbase.

His new role will see him work alongside Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP Group, as the championship continues to develop its global presence and commercial offering.

Carlos Ezpeleta Takes on New MotoGP Leadership Role

Carlos Ezpeleta brings experience across both the business and sporting sides of MotoGP. During his more than 10 years with the championship, he has contributed to the development of strategic partnerships and the expansion of MotoGP’s international footprint.

He has also been involved in efforts aimed at making the championship safer, more competitive and more engaging for fans.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP Group, said Carlos has played a fundamental role in the championship’s growth and that his broad experience makes him well suited to help guide MotoGP into its next chapter.

“Carlos has played a fundamental role in the growth of MotoGP over many years,” Carmelo Ezpeleta said. “His experience spans every part of our business, and his leadership, vision and passion for the sport make him the right person to help guide MotoGP into its next chapter.”

Liberty Media Welcomes Carlos Ezpeleta Appointment

The leadership change comes as Liberty Media continues its involvement with MotoGP and looks to expand the championship’s global reach.

Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang said MotoGP has established a strong global foundation but has significant potential for further growth.

“Carlos has the experience, vision and deep understanding of MotoGP to help lead that transformation, and we are excited to support him as he takes on this new position,” Chang said.

The appointment is expected to play a role in MotoGP’s broader commercial and audience-growth strategy as the championship looks to reach new markets and attract new fans.

Carlos Ezpeleta: ‘Unlock the Sport’s Full Potential’

Carlos Ezpeleta said he was honoured to take on the new position at what he described as an exciting moment for MotoGP.

“With incredible fans and partners around the world, I look forward to working with Liberty Media and the entire MotoGP community to reach new audiences, create new opportunities and unlock the sport’s full potential,” he said.

The new Deputy CEO role is part of MotoGP Group’s plans to strengthen its leadership structure for what it describes as the next era of growth and transformation.

Further leadership appointments are expected to be announced in due course.

Carmelo Ezpeleta to Continue as MotoGP CEO

Despite the appointment of Carlos Ezpeleta as Deputy CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta will continue in his role as CEO of MotoGP Group.

Carlos Ezpeleta will serve as Deputy CEO, working alongside Carmelo as the championship develops its next phase under the ownership and strategic direction of Liberty Media.

The move comes at a significant period for MotoGP, with the championship seeking to build on its established international following while creating new commercial opportunities, expanding its audience and continuing to evolve the sport.
