Maruti Suzuki’s Made-in-India EV Exports Cross 50,000 Units

Hansalpur/ New Delhi, India, October 29, 2026: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that cumulative exports of its Made-in-India electric vehicle (EV), the e VITARA, have crossed 50,000 units since global shipments began in August 2025.

Europe was the first market to receive the electric SUV and continues to be Maruti Suzuki’s largest export destination. The company said it was India’s leading exporter of electric vehicles in FY2025-26 and retained the position during April-September FY2026-27.

Speaking on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the company’s EV export journey began in August 2025, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the start of e VITARA production at the company’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat. The vehicle was developed for sale in more than 100 countries.

Maruti Suzuki now exports its EVs to nearly 50 countries. According to the company, it accounted for nearly 93% of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports between April and September 2026, highlighting the growing role of Indian manufacturing in the global EV market.

Takeuchi said the milestone reflected India’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and increasing competitiveness in international markets.

Hansalpur facility drives Maruti Suzuki’s EV exports

Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat is the exclusive manufacturing base for Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle. The plant recently expanded its annual production capacity to one million vehicles, making it the first Suzuki manufacturing facility worldwide to reach that capacity at a single location.

The facility has received cumulative investments of ₹25,288.7 crore and serves as a major export hub for the company. It accounted for nearly half of Maruti Suzuki’s total overseas shipments in FY2025-26.

The company also said it has been India’s No. 1 passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years and held more than 50% of the country’s passenger vehicle export share during April-September 2026.

Maruti Suzuki currently exports 16 models to nearly 120 countries, supporting its strategy of expanding the global reach of vehicles manufactured in India.

The 50,000-unit EV export milestone adds to the company’s broader international business as India strengthens its position as a manufacturing and export base for the global automotive industry.
