Hyundai BAYON: Reinforced Body Structure and High-Strength Steel
The Hyundai BAYON is based on the Global K Enhanced Platform, with a reinforced chassis and a body structure designed to manage crash energy and improve occupant protection.
Hyundai says the BAYON’s Super-Strong Body Structure incorporates 69% Advanced Multi-Grade High-Strength Steel, including Hot Stamping (HS), Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS), Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) and High Strength Steel (HSS).
Hot-stamped components are used in critical areas such as the front apron, dashboard, rear floor and side reinforcements. Hot-stamped rear-floor side members are designed to enhance protection in rear impacts.
The vehicle also employs dual-box construction, multiple load paths and a ring-type structure to help absorb and distribute impact forces, improve structural rigidity and reduce the risk of cabin intrusion during a collision.
According to Hyundai, the combination of platform architecture, reinforced construction and advanced steel technologies forms the foundation of the BAYON’s occupant-protection system.
