MotoGP Launches Global Academy Programme to Develop Young Racing Talent
October 21, 2026: MotoGP has announced the launch of MotoGP Academy, a new global initiative aimed at developing young motorcycle racing talent and expanding access to the sport through a network of accredited racing schools and institutions.
The programme will form part of the championship’s Road to MotoGP talent development pathway, with the MotoGP Academy seal awarded to racing schools that meet rigorous standards covering facilities, training methodology, technical execution and brand visibility.
The initiative aims to create a network of elite racing academies worldwide, with a particular focus on regions where access to structured motorcycle racing development remains limited. By establishing consistent standards across participating institutions, MotoGP intends to provide young riders with quality training environments and clearer opportunities to progress in the sport.
MotoGP Academy to Create a Global Network of Racing Schools
Under the new programme, selected racing schools and institutions will be recognised as MotoGP Academies after meeting the championship’s requirements for on-track and off-track excellence.
The academies will provide young riders with opportunities to develop their skills in structured training environments while promoting motorcycle racing within their local communities.
MotoGP will also support participating institutions through tailored toolkits, branding resources, activation assistance and exclusive discounts on MotoGP products. The support is intended to help each academy strengthen its operations, improve visibility and build engagement with aspiring riders and fans.
The MotoGP Academy seal will serve as a mark of recognition for institutions that meet the programme’s requirements, helping establish a network associated with consistent training standards and the championship’s global identity.
National and Regional MotoGP Academies Planned
Each accredited academy will carry the name of its nation, region or continent, following an approach that has proved successful with the FIM MotoMini World Series.
The structure will allow larger countries and markets to establish multiple MotoGP Academies, while other countries may have a single national academy serving as the central hub for rider development.
MotoGP plans to focus on established markets as well as regions with significant potential for growth. The emphasis on underserved areas is intended to broaden participation and give more young riders access to organised training and development opportunities.
Beyond developing future racers, the academies will also act as local ambassadors for motorcycle racing. By hosting activities and building connections with their communities, they are expected to bring MotoGP closer to fans and encourage greater participation in two-wheel motorsport.
Road to MotoGP Expands Its Talent Development Pathway
The MotoGP Academy initiative adds a new dimension to the championship’s Road to MotoGP strategy, which aims to create opportunities for emerging riders to progress through the sport.
By connecting recognised racing schools across different countries and regions, the programme seeks to strengthen grassroots participation and create a broader foundation for future talent.
The focus on training quality, local engagement and international recognition could also help address differences in access to racing facilities and professional guidance across markets.
With its global network of accredited institutions, MotoGP Academy is intended to support the next generation of motorcycle racers while expanding the championship’s reach among prospective riders and fans.
Further details on participating academies and the programme’s rollout are expected as MotoGP develops the network worldwide.
