2026 Hankook London E-Prix: Jake Dennis Leads Tight Formula E Title Fight Into Season Finale

London, UK, August 11, 2026: The 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship reaches its dramatic conclusion this weekend as the 2026 Hankook London E-Prix hosts the final two races of the season. With the Drivers’ and Teams’ championships still up for grabs, the London finale is set to deliver one of the closest title battles in Formula E history.

The Excel London will once again provide the backdrop for the season finale, with the 2.077-km circuit combining indoor and outdoor sections. Drivers will tackle tight corners, elevation changes and varying grip levels before heading onto the streets around the Royal Docklands.

The 2026 Hankook London E-Prix will also mark Formula E’s final visit to the Excel London circuit, with the GEN4 era set to move to Brands Hatch for the 2026/27 season.

Jake Dennis Leads Formula E Drivers’ Championship

Jake Dennis heads into the London finale as the driver to beat, with the Andretti Formula E driver sitting on 146 points. The 2022/23 Formula E World Champion holds a two-point advantage over Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans, while Porsche Formula E driver Pascal Wehrlein is only five points behind Dennis on 141.

With the top three separated by just five points, both London races could have a decisive impact on the 2025/26 Formula E Drivers’ Championship. Dennis is chasing a second World Championship title, while Evans is aiming to secure his maiden drivers’ crown. Wehrlein is also targeting a second title.

Dennis will also have the added motivation of competing for the championship in front of his home crowd.

“It’s always special racing at home in London and there’s obviously a lot on the line for us this weekend,” Dennis said. “We’re going to give it everything and hopefully we can finish the weekend as World Champions.”

Jaguar and Porsche Fight for Teams’ Championship

The Teams’ World Championship is also set for a final showdown in London. Jaguar TCS Racing leads Porsche Formula E by 14 points, with Porsche entering the weekend as the defending champion.

Porsche Formula E has already secured the Manufacturers’ World Championship following its strong performance in Tokyo, leaving the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles to be decided in London.

Final Formula E Race at Excel London

The 2026 Hankook London E-Prix will be particularly significant as Formula E prepares to leave the Excel London venue. The circuit is one of the championship’s most distinctive venues, combining indoor racing at the Excel London convention centre with an outdoor section around the Royal Docklands.

The London weekend will also bring the GEN3 era to a close, with the GEN3 Evo making its final competitive appearance before Formula E enters the GEN4 era.

Off the track, fans will be entertained by performances from Josh Baker on Saturday and AJ Tracey on Sunday as part of the London E-Prix Fan Village programme.

Lucas di Grassi Set for Final Formula E Race

The London finale will also mark the end of Lucas di Grassi’s Formula E racing career. The Brazilian has been part of the championship since its inception and won the inaugural Formula E race in Beijing in 2014.

Di Grassi became Formula E champion in the 2016/17 season and has recorded 14 victories and 42 podium finishes during his career. His latest victory came in Shanghai earlier this season, where a bold dry-weather setup helped him deliver Lola Yamaha ABT its first victory.

The veteran driver will make his final Formula E start in London after more than 163 E-Prix appearances.

“This weekend’s London E-Prix marks my final race as a professional driver after 30 years of racing,” di Grassi said. “Formula E has a very special place in my motorsport story, having been part of the Championship since the very beginning.”

Sustainability Remains a Key Focus in London

Formula E will continue to place sustainability at the centre of the London season finale. The event will operate using 100% certified renewable mains electricity, supplemented by solar power generated at Excel London. Battery storage will also be used for track lighting and buffer zones to reduce reliance on continuous generator use.

The event will follow a zero-waste-to-landfill approach, with recyclable materials processed through Excel London’s circular waste infrastructure. Food waste will be composted, while used cooking oil will be recycled into biofuel.

Food concessions will also use Notpla packaging made from seaweed and plant extracts, replacing conventional single-use plastic packaging.

Formula E is also working with giffgaff on the €25,000 Better Futures Fund initiative, which will support 20 young Londoners facing barriers to employment through coaching, grants, refurbished smartphones and paid work placements during race week.

Other initiatives include the Driving Force STEM programme, which has engaged more than 94,000 students globally, a Community Tour involving more than 380 local residents, and the return of FIA Girls on Track in London for 150 young women aged 12–18.

Formula E 2025/26 Season So Far

Jake Dennis began the season strongly in Brazil, converting Julius Baer Pole Position into victory for Andretti. Nick Cassidy then produced a major comeback in Mexico City, climbing from 13th to first to secure Citroën Racing’s first single-seater victory.

Mitch Evans subsequently won in Miami to claim his 15th Formula E victory and move to the top of the championship’s all-time wins list. Pascal Wehrlein won in Jeddah, while António Félix da Costa also took victory with Jaguar TCS Racing.

Da Costa continued his strong form in Madrid, while Nico Müller claimed his maiden Formula E victory in Berlin. Evans then produced another outstanding drive in Berlin, recovering from 17th on the grid to win.

In Monaco, Nyck de Vries ended Mahindra Racing’s winless run with victory, while Oliver Rowland won the second race of the weekend. Dennis returned to the top step in Sanya before Wehrlein and di Grassi shared victories in Shanghai.

The Tokyo races further intensified the title fight, setting up a London finale in which just five points separate Dennis, Evans and Wehrlein.
