EKA Mobility Appoints Former SIAM Executive Director Prashant Kumar Banerjee as Group Head – Government & Corporate Affairs
Pune, India, August 6, 2026: EKA Mobility has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Prashant Kumar Banerjee as Group Head – Government & Corporate Affairs, as the electric commercial vehicle manufacturer looks to accelerate its growth and strengthen engagement with policymakers and industry stakeholders.
A leading Indian electric commercial vehicle manufacturer and a Champion OEM under the Government of India’s Auto Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, EKA Mobility said Banerjee will spearhead the company’s government relations, corporate affairs, public policy and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives across the Group.

In his new role, Banerjee will oversee strategic engagement with government bodies, industry associations and key stakeholders. He will also lead policy advocacy efforts while supporting EKA Mobility’s long-term sustainability and business growth objectives.

Over 36 years of automotive industry experience
Banerjee brings more than 36 years of experience across automotive engineering, product development, regulations and public policy.
Before joining EKA Mobility, he served as Executive Director at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), where he played a key role in shaping India’s automotive regulations, industry standards and policy advocacy.
His professional journey also includes leadership roles at:
- Tata Motors
- Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
- Toyota
- Daewoo Motors
- IIT Bombay
Veteran policy expert with global regulatory experience
An alumnus of IIT Bombay and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK, Banerjee has represented India at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) WP.29 forums since 2003.
He also chairs India’s GRSG (Working Party on General Safety Provisions) on behalf of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, contributing to the development of vehicle construction regulations with a special focus on electric and hydrogen mobility.
His contributions to sustainable transportation and bioenergy were recognised with Brazil’s prestigious Order of Rio Branco, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.
