Tata Motors Sells 69,131 Units in July 2025; CV and EV Sales Drive Performance

Tata Motors has reported total sales of 69,131 units in July 2025, across domestic and international markets. While this reflects a modest decline from the 71,996 units sold in July 2024, the company has registered significant growth in key categories, including commercial vehicles (CV) and electric vehicles (EVs).

Robust Growth in Commercial Vehicle Segment

The Commercial Vehicle (CV) division was a standout performer, clocking 28,956 units in total sales, registering a 7% year-on-year (YoY) growth over July 2024.

  • Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCVs) saw a 4% growth at 6,735 units.
  • Intermediate, Light & Medium Commercial Vehicles (ILMCVs) surged by 17% to 5,068 units.
  • Passenger Carriers rose by 7% to 4,749 units.
  • CV International Business (CV IB) posted the strongest growth at 57%, with 2,524 units sold.

Domestic sales of Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MH&ICV), including both trucks and buses, stood at 12,387 units, compared to 11,174 units last year. Combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales totaled 13,669 units, marking a solid increase from 11,886 units in July 2024.

Electric Vehicles Hit All-Time High

Tata Motors continued its leadership in the electric mobility space by achieving its highest-ever monthly EV sales, recording 7,124 units—a 42% growth compared to July 2024. This milestone underscores the brand’s commitment to zero-emission mobility and sustainable innovation.

Passenger Vehicle Segment Faces Temporary Headwinds

The Passenger Vehicle (PV) segment reported 40,175 units sold, marking an 11% decline YoY. Domestic PV sales stood at 39,521 units, down from 44,725 units in July 2024. However, the PV International Business (PV IB) delivered an impressive 186% growth, rising from 229 to 654 units.

Domestic Sales Summary

Tata Motors’ total domestic sales for July 2025 were 65,953 units, representing a 6% YoY dip. Despite the decline in overall numbers, the performance in commercial exports and EVs demonstrated the company’s strategic pivot toward high-growth, future-ready segments.
