Marc Marquez Tops MotoGP FP1 at Balaton Park, Ends Long Wait for Friday P1 Finish
Balaton Park, Hungary, June 5, 2026: Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez made a strong statement at the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, topping Friday morning’s Free Practice 1 (FP1) session at Balaton Park. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider secured his first FP1 P1 finish since the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, continuing his comeback from injury with an impressive performance.
Marquez clocked a best lap of 1:38.626 to finish 0.169 seconds ahead of Raul Fernandez of the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pedro Acosta completed the top three, ending the session 0.298 seconds behind the six-time MotoGP champion.
The session initially belonged to Acosta, who led the field by more than half a second before Marquez edged ahead by a mere 0.002 seconds with less than 20 minutes remaining.
