Tata Motors and Iveco Group Begin New Chapter as Global Commercial Mobility Enterprise

Bengaluru, India, November 3, 2026: Tata Motors Limited and Iveco Group N.V. have marked the beginning of their combined journey as a global commercial mobility enterprise, bringing together their industrial expertise, product portfolios, technology capabilities and international networks.

Announced at a global press meet in Turin, Italy, on November 3, 2026, the combination creates the world’s fourth-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, according to the companies. The new enterprise brings together two established automotive businesses with complementary strengths across Europe, India, South America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The combined organisation has a workforce of more than 73,000 employees, with an industrial and customer network comprising 27 manufacturing facilities, 25 research and development (R&D) centres and approximately 9,300 sales and service centres. Its operations span more than 130 countries, with combined annual sales volumes of around 5,90,000 vehicles.

Commenting on the development, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, Tata Motors and Iveco Group, said the combination marked the beginning of an important new chapter for both organisations. He highlighted their shared commitment to sustainable mobility and the ambition to shape the future of commercial transportation through long-term investments, technology exchange and combined industrial capabilities.

He added that the two companies would work towards developing safer, smarter, more connected and sustainable mobility solutions while leveraging their combined scale and talent.

Tata Motors and Iveco Group to accelerate technology and product development

The combined enterprise will focus on leveraging complementary capabilities in advanced powertrains, alternative energy, software, connected technologies and manufacturing. The companies expect the collaboration to accelerate innovation, expand their product and technology offerings and bring new mobility solutions to customers across markets.

Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors, said the combination had moved from strategic vision to operational reality. He highlighted the opportunity to create greater value for customers and stakeholders by bringing together the companies’ engineering, technology, sourcing, distribution and customer network capabilities.

Wagh also emphasised that the transition would ensure continuity for customers, dealers and business partners while enabling both organisations to accelerate innovation and expand their global reach.

Olof Persson, CEO of Iveco Group, described the development as a defining moment for the company. He said the partnership would allow Iveco Group to build on its established brands, workforce and industrial heritage while benefiting from Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle expertise and long-term commitment to sustainable transportation.

Complementary commercial vehicle portfolios across global markets

A key strength of the combination is the complementary nature of the two companies’ product portfolios and geographical presence.

Tata Motors brings a commercial vehicle range spanning sub-one-tonne to 55-tonne cargo vehicles, alongside mass-mobility solutions ranging from 10-seater to 51-seater vehicles. The company has a strong presence in India and growing operations across emerging markets in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Iveco Group contributes capabilities across light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, as well as city and intercity buses, with established positions in Europe and Latin America. Its FPT business further strengthens the group’s powertrain capabilities across on-road and off-road applications, marine operations and power generation.

Together, the companies aim to offer customers a wider choice of vehicles, technologies and powertrain solutions across different commercial mobility applications.

Multiple powertrain technologies to support cleaner mobility

The combined enterprise will also benefit from a broad range of powertrain technologies, covering conventional internal combustion engines, natural gas, battery-electric systems, hydrogen and other emerging low- and zero-emission solutions.

This diversified technology portfolio is expected to help the companies address different customer requirements and regional market conditions while supporting the transition towards cleaner commercial transportation.

The combination also creates opportunities to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation commercial mobility technologies through greater engineering capabilities, research infrastructure and manufacturing scale.

Iveco Group to retain its headquarters and brand identity

Despite the combination, Iveco Group will continue to be headquartered in Turin, Italy, with its brands, teams and industrial footprint retaining their distinct identities.

Tata Motors will support Iveco Group’s existing strategy and investment plans, while both organisations collaborate to leverage their respective strengths and develop new growth opportunities.

The companies have also emphasised continuity for customers, dealers, suppliers and business partners. Existing customer contracts, dealer and supplier relationships, warranties, aftermarket commitments and captive financing solutions will remain unchanged, supported by the same teams and networks.

More than 73,000 employees to drive the combined enterprise

The combined workforce of over 73,000 people will play a central role in the new organisation. The companies intend to encourage a two-way exchange of engineering expertise, technology, market knowledge and best practices, creating opportunities for collaboration and professional development.

The combination is also expected to create new opportunities for suppliers, dealers and distributors by providing access to additional markets, customers and business opportunities.
