Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle Sales Rise 30% in July 2026; Domestic Sales Jump 33%
Bengaluru, India, August 3, 2026: Tata Motors reported a strong performance in its commercial vehicle business for July 2026, registering a 30% year-on-year growth in total domestic and export sales. The company sold 19,590 commercial vehicles during the month, compared to 15,064 units in July 2025, driven by robust demand for medium and heavy commercial trucks as well as light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
In the domestic market, Tata Motors recorded sales of 17,980 commercial vehicles in July 2026, marking a 33% increase over the 13,501 units sold in the same month last year.
The company’s Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) truck segment emerged as the strongest performer, with domestic sales surging 43% to 9,323 units, up from 6,518 units in July 2025. Including exports, M&HCV truck sales climbed 47% year-on-year to 9,809 units.
Domestic M&HCV bus sales witnessed modest growth of 6%, rising to 1,727 units from 1,627 units a year ago. However, including exports, M&HCV bus sales declined 14% to 2,461 units, compared to 2,862 units in July 2025.
Overall, Tata Motors sold 12,270 M&HCVs across domestic and export markets during July 2026, registering a 29% increase over the 9,529 units sold in the corresponding month last year.
The company’s Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) business also delivered a healthy performance. Domestic LCV sales increased 29% to 6,930 units, while combined domestic and export sales grew 32% to 7,320 units, reflecting sustained demand across the segment.
Cumulative Sales Performance
For the April–July 2026 period, Tata Motors sold 68,353 commercial vehicles across domestic and international markets, representing a 15% growth compared to 59,302 units during the same period last year.
Domestic commercial vehicle sales during the four-month period stood at 64,282 units, up 17% from 54,728 units in the corresponding period of FY2025-26.
Cumulative domestic M&HCV truck sales rose 23% to 32,660 units, while total M&HCV truck sales, including exports, increased 25% to 33,763 units.
The domestic LCV segment also maintained strong momentum, with cumulative sales growing 23% to 25,804 units, while combined domestic and export LCV sales reached 26,659 units, also up 23% year-on-year.
While truck and LCV sales continued to drive overall growth, the bus segment remained under pressure. Domestic M&HCV bus sales for the April–July period declined 21%, while total M&HCV bus sales, including exports, fell 25% compared to the same period last year.
