Kia India Launches Nationwide Sustainability Drive Ahead of World Environment Day 2026
New Delhi, India, June 4, 2026: Kia India has announced a series of sustainability-focused initiatives across its network of more than 500 workshops and corporate offices to mark World Environment Day 2026 on June 5. The campaign aims to promote environmental responsibility, energy conservation and sustainable practices among customers, employees, dealer partners and local communities.
The initiative reinforces Kia India’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship while integrating green practices into everyday customer interactions and business operations.
Kia India to Offer Free Vehicle Emission Checks Across Workshop Network
As part of the World Environment Day campaign, participating Kia workshops across the country will offer complimentary vehicle emission checks to customers.
The initiative is designed to help vehicle owners better understand their vehicle’s environmental impact while promoting awareness about the importance of maintaining optimal emission levels and vehicle performance.
Kia will also conduct dedicated customer awareness sessions focused on sustainable driving practices and environmental responsibility.
E-Waste Collection Drive Targets Over 1,000 Kilograms
One of the key highlights of the campaign is a nationwide e-waste awareness and collection drive.
Kia India has designated 31 workshop locations as authorised collection centres for discarded electronic waste, with the company aiming to collect more than 1,000 kilograms of e-waste during the campaign.
The initiative will be open to both customers and employees and is intended to encourage responsible disposal and recycling of electronic products.
Kia Expands Green Workshop Initiative
To further strengthen environmentally responsible operations, Kia India will conduct specialised training programmes for workshop personnel on the proper handling, storage and disposal of used oil.
The company says the training will help improve waste management standards across its service network while ensuring compliance with environmental best practices.
Additionally, several Kia workshops will organise sapling distribution programmes and tree plantation drives as part of local conservation efforts.
132 Kia Green Workshops Generate 9.8 MW of Solar Power
As part of its broader sustainability roadmap, Kia India highlighted the progress of its Green Workshop initiative.
The automaker currently operates 132 Green Workshops across India, collectively generating 9.8 MW of solar power. The adoption of renewable energy is helping the company reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and support cleaner workshop operations.
Kia will also conduct energy conservation campaigns across its facilities to promote efficient power consumption and increase awareness about renewable energy adoption.
Sustainability Embedded Across Kia’s Operations
Commenting on the initiative, Bhimsen Gulabani said sustainability is deeply integrated into Kia India’s business strategy and customer engagement approach.
According to Gulabani, the company’s workshop network provides a valuable platform to promote environmental awareness and encourage responsible practices among customers on a large scale.
Meanwhile, Atul Sood emphasised that sustainability remains embedded throughout Kia India’s value chain, from its nationwide retail and service network to its manufacturing operations.
Anantapur Manufacturing Facility Supports Green Operations
Beyond its nationwide initiatives, Kia India continues to strengthen sustainability efforts at its manufacturing facility in Anantapur.
The company has implemented renewable energy solutions, water conservation measures and resource-efficient operational practices. Kia also utilises systems that enable treated wastewater reuse and support efficient energy consumption across manufacturing activities.
These measures form part of the company’s long-term strategy to create a more sustainable manufacturing ecosystem while supporting cleaner mobility solutions in India.
Kia Strengthens Commitment to Sustainable Mobility
With initiatives ranging from free emission testing and e-waste collection to renewable energy adoption and environmental awareness programmes, Kia India is using World Environment Day 2026 as an opportunity to expand its sustainability efforts across its customer-facing operations and manufacturing facilities.
