Max Verstappen, Isack Hadjar Target Stronger Red Bull Performance at Mexico City GP
Mexico City, Mexico, October 29, 2026: Red Bull Racing will be looking to build on its podium finish at the United States Grand Prix as the team heads into the Mexico City Grand Prix, the second round of the Formula 1 triple-header.
With the high-altitude conditions at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez presenting a different set of challenges from Austin, Red Bull will focus on optimising car performance, managing temperatures and improving its competitiveness.
Reflecting on the Austin race, Max Verstappen said the weekend had been more difficult than expected, although the team could take positives from securing a podium finish.
“Going on to the second race of the triple header, Mexico has very different conditions compared to Austin, so it is difficult to predict how we will fare there,” Verstappen said.
The four-time world champion added that the team had been working hard to understand the car better ahead of the Mexican race. The circuit’s altitude and the risk of overheating make cooling a critical consideration, with Red Bull needing to ensure the car operates within its optimal performance window.
“Hopefully we can be a bit more competitive in Mexico; it can be quite tricky to race here, with the altitude and the overheating, so we need to make sure have the cooling right and ensure the car is in the right window,” Verstappen said.
The Dutchman also highlighted the enthusiasm of Mexican fans, noting that their passion adds to the atmosphere of the race weekend.
Meanwhile, Isack Hadjar is keen to build on Red Bull’s recent progress and help the team continue its push towards the front of the field.
Reflecting on the Austin weekend, Hadjar said the team left the United States believing there was more performance available, which he viewed as an encouraging sign of its development this season.
“As a Team, we all left Austin knowing that there was more on the table for us, which is a great sign of how far we have come this season. We go straight into Mexico looking to build on last weekend, fully focused on fighting at the front,” Hadjar said.
The Mexico City Grand Prix also holds personal significance for the French driver, as it was the circuit where he first drove an F1 car in 2023. Hadjar said the energy of the fans around Mexico City and at the track provides an additional boost.
“The passion of the fans is something you can really feel around the city and on track. It gets you going as a driver,” he added.
Hadjar also welcomed Red Bull’s move up to third in the Constructors’ Championship following the Austin race, with the team looking to maintain its momentum in Mexico.
“It’s great to now be third in the Constructors’ Championship after Austin, so we arrive in Mexico looking to keep climbing as high as we can,” Hadjar said.
With the Mexican Grand Prix marking another important stage in the triple-header, Verstappen and Hadjar will aim to make the most of Red Bull’s recent progress and deliver a competitive performance at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
