Yamaha Clinches 2026 WorldSSP Manufacturers’ Title at Estoril

Estoril, Portugal, October 10, 2026: Yamaha has secured the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) Manufacturers’ Title at Estoril, claiming its 12th manufacturers’ crown and successfully defending the championship it won in 2025.

The achievement marks Yamaha’s second consecutive WorldSSP Manufacturers’ Championship title with the YZF-R9, further strengthening the Japanese manufacturer’s legacy in the middleweight Supersport category.

Yamaha’s title success at Estoril coincided with a remarkable achievement for Albert Arenas and the AS BLU CRU Racing Team. Arenas secured the 2026 WorldSSP Riders’ Championship in Race 1 at the Portuguese circuit, allowing Yamaha, AS BLU CRU Racing and the Spanish rider to complete a clean sweep of the Manufacturers’, Teams’ and Riders’ titles.

Arenas has been Yamaha’s highest-scoring rider during the 2026 campaign, winning three races aboard the YZF-R9. His consistent performances have played a crucial role in helping the manufacturer maintain its position at the front of the championship.

Yamaha YZF-R9 Continues Its WorldSSP Success

The 2026 Manufacturers’ Championship further underlines the competitiveness of Yamaha’s YZF-R9, which has continued to deliver results in the FIM Supersport World Championship.

Yamaha’s championship campaign has benefited from contributions from Albert Arenas of AS BLU CRU Racing Team, Lucas Mahias and Roberto Garcia of GMT94 Yamaha, and Can Oncu of Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing.

The combined efforts of these riders have helped Yamaha secure sufficient points to clinch the manufacturers’ title at the penultimate round of the season.

The result also highlights the strength of Yamaha’s WorldSSP racing programme, with its participating teams consistently competing for victories and championship points throughout the campaign.

Yamaha Adds to Its WorldSSP Championship Legacy

Yamaha’s history in the WorldSSP category dates back to 1999, when it won the Manufacturers’ Championship in the inaugural season of the series.

Since then, the manufacturer has remained a prominent force in the championship, building a successful record with its Supersport machinery and racing teams.

Its latest triumph takes the total to 12 Manufacturers’ Championship titles, with the YZF-R9 playing a central role in its recent success. Defending the crown in 2026, following its 2025 victory, further reinforces Yamaha’s competitiveness in the category.

The latest achievement also demonstrates the effectiveness of Yamaha’s collaboration with its racing teams, riders and motorsport division in developing a competitive package for the WorldSSP championship.

Yamaha Motor Europe Celebrates Championship Success

Michael van Zomeren, Marketing and Motorsport Director at Yamaha Motor Europe, congratulated Arenas on securing the riders’ crown in his first attempt and praised the continued success of the YZF-R9.

“A huge congratulations to Albert Arenas on securing the WorldSSP title in his very first attempt! It has been an exemplary season for him,” van Zomeren said.

He added that the R9’s continued success in the FIM Supersport World Championship reinforced its position as a leading middleweight Supersport machine.

Van Zomeren also highlighted the significance of defending the Riders’ and Manufacturers’ titles after winning the championship in the motorcycle’s first season, describing the achievement as further evidence of the YZF-R9’s capabilities as a complete Supersport package.

He credited AS BLU CRU Racing, Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing and GMT94 Yamaha, along with their riders, for their hard work, commitment and determination throughout the season.

The Yamaha Motor Europe executive also acknowledged the manufacturer’s Motorsport Division for its contribution to keeping the R9 competitive and assembling a rider line-up capable of delivering the championship-winning result.

With the 2026 WorldSSP Manufacturers’ Championship secured at Estoril, Yamaha has added another milestone to its racing history, while Arenas’ riders’ title and AS BLU CRU Racing’s teams’ crown underline the strength of the manufacturer’s overall campaign.
