Marco Bezzecchi Wins Indonesian MotoGP as Aprilia Claims Historic 1-2-3-4

Lombok, Indonesia, October 11, 2026: Marco Bezzecchi returned to the top step of the podium with a commanding victory at the 2026 Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix at Mandalika, leading an unprecedented Aprilia 1-2-3-4 finish and reigniting his championship hopes.

The Aprilia Racing rider secured his first Grand Prix victory since the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, controlling the closing stages to win by 3.3 seconds after a late-race overtake on SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team’s Raul Fernandez. Fernandez finished second despite competing with two broken fingers sustained in a crash during Saturday’s Sprint.

Bezzecchi’s Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin completed the podium in third place, a result that propelled him back to the top of the MotoGP World Championship standings. Trackhouse rider Ai Ogura finished fourth to complete a historic top-four lockout for Aprilia, marking the first time the Noale-based manufacturer had achieved the feat in MotoGP.

The Indonesian Grand Prix also marked a milestone for Italy, with the country reaching 300 premier-class MotoGP victories.

Bezzecchi Takes Control After Late-Race Overtake

Fernandez made a strong start from pole position and initially held off Bezzecchi, who attempted to take the lead into Turn 1 before running slightly wide and allowing the Spaniard to regain the advantage.

Marc Marquez, who had won Saturday’s Sprint, moved into third early in the race, while Martin initially found himself behind the leading group. The Spaniard soon recovered, passing Fabio Di Giannantonio before moving ahead of Marquez at Turn 10 to climb into third place.

The race took another turn on Lap 2 when Fermin Aldeguer crashed out at Turn 16. Martin moved up to fourth before overtaking Marquez, while Pedro Acosta began applying pressure to the Ducati rider.

Acosta eventually passed Marquez at Turn 10 with a late braking move, dropping the championship leader further down the order. The KTM rider briefly held fourth before Marquez reclaimed the position later in the race.

At the front, Bezzecchi steadily closed the gap to Fernandez. After setting a fastest lap of 1:29.991, the Italian began putting sustained pressure on the Trackhouse rider, with Martin running further behind in third.

The decisive move came on Lap 19 of the 27-lap race. Bezzecchi swept past Fernandez to take the lead and immediately began extending his advantage. Fernandez ran slightly wide at Turn 1, allowing the Aprilia rider to open a gap of 1.4 seconds.

Bezzecchi continued to increase his lead over the remaining laps and eventually crossed the finish line 3.3 seconds clear of Fernandez, securing a crucial victory in the championship battle.

Fernandez Delivers Podium Despite Broken Fingers

Fernandez produced one of the standout performances of the weekend by finishing second despite suffering two broken fingers in Saturday’s Sprint crash.

The Trackhouse rider defended his lead through the opening stages and remained competitive even after Bezzecchi overtook him in the closing laps. His second-place finish demonstrated his determination to secure a major result despite the physical setback.

Martin finished third to ensure both Aprilia Racing riders stood on the podium. The Spaniard’s result proved especially important in the championship standings, allowing him to regain the lead from Marc Marquez.

Ogura completed the historic Aprilia top-four finish after an intense battle with Acosta. The Japanese rider overtook the KTM racer during the closing stages, with Acosta fighting back before Ogura made the decisive move at Turn 16.

The result underlined Aprilia’s pace and consistency at Mandalika, with both factory riders and both Trackhouse riders finishing inside the top four.

Marc Marquez Loses Championship Lead

Marc Marquez finished sixth after a race-long battle with Martin, Acosta and the two Aprilia riders. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider had started strongly after winning the Sprint but struggled to maintain his early position as the race progressed.

Acosta initially moved ahead of Marquez before the Spaniard reclaimed the position on Lap 13. The pair exchanged places again two laps later, with the KTM rider appearing to encounter difficulties during the contest.

Marquez subsequently lost another position to Ogura on Lap 21 at Turn 16, leaving him sixth at the chequered flag.

Despite missing the podium, the result kept Marquez within striking distance of the championship lead. Martin now leads the standings by just two points, restoring the same margin that separated the pair before the Indonesian weekend.

Bezzecchi also remains mathematically in contention, although the Italian is 46 points behind Martin following his victory at Mandalika.

Acosta Finishes Fifth as Oliveira and Quartararo Score Points

Acosta finished fifth, just one-tenth of a second behind Ogura, after an eventful race that included several position changes with Marquez and the Trackhouse rider.

Alex Marquez finished seventh for BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP, ahead of Di Giannantonio in eighth. Fabio Quartararo secured ninth for Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, while Enea Bastianini completed the top 10 for Red Bull KTM Tech3.

Brad Binder finished 12th for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, with Johann Zarco taking 13th for Castrol Honda LCR. Franco Morbidelli finished 14th for Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, while Alex Rins claimed the final championship point in 15th for Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP.

The race saw Aprilia emerge as the dominant manufacturer at Mandalika, while the championship battle remained finely balanced heading into the next round.

MotoGP Championship Heads to Phillip Island

The MotoGP World Championship now moves to Phillip Island in Australia, with just two points separating Martin and Marquez at the top of the standings.

Martin’s third-place finish in Indonesia proved vital, while Marquez limited the damage with sixth place. Bezzecchi’s victory also kept his championship hopes alive, although he will need further strong results to close the 46-point gap.

Aprilia’s historic 1-2-3-4 finish adds another milestone to its MotoGP campaign and gives the manufacturer considerable momentum heading into the Australian Grand Prix.

With the title fight still wide open, Phillip Island promises another important chapter in the battle for the 2026 MotoGP World Championship.
