Hyundai BAYON Design Sketches Revealed Ahead of India Launch
Gurugram, India, September 16, 2026: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has revealed the first design sketches of the upcoming Hyundai BAYON, following the announcement of the name of its new Intelligent SUV. Developed as a global product, the Hyundai BAYON is designed around a stronger SUV identity, bold styling and urban versatility.
The design sketches offer the first look at Hyundai’s interpretation of its evolving Art of Steel design language, combining sculpted surfaces, sharp character lines and architectural proportions.
Hyundai says the BAYON has been designed to bring together the visual presence and capability associated with an SUV with the practicality required for everyday urban mobility.
Hyundai BAYON design revealed
The Hyundai BAYON’s exterior design is characterised by a sculpted bonnet, pronounced fenders and muscular proportions. The front-end design also features a distinctive H-Edge lighting signature, which gives the SUV a more contemporary and futuristic appearance.
The design incorporates sharp character lines and defined surfaces, while robust lower-body elements reinforce its SUV stance.
According to Hyundai, the Art of Steel design philosophy focuses on shaping steel into forms that communicate strength, movement and character. The BAYON applies this approach through its combination of architectural forms, precise surfaces and pronounced volumes.
Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center, Hyundai Motor Company, said the BAYON was designed to make a confident first impression in India.
The design team has combined a high-tech interior with a tougher exterior, with elements such as the sculpted hood, bold fender volumes and H-Edge lighting intended to give the SUV a distinctive identity.
Hyundai BAYON interior sketch previews technology-focused cabin
Hyundai has also released a sketch of the BAYON’s interior, offering an early preview of its cabin design.
The interior is being positioned around technology, connectivity and intuitive interaction. Hyundai says the cabin will combine advanced technology with contemporary design to create a premium and engaging environment for occupants.
The interior design reflects the company’s focus on intelligent mobility, with technology and connectivity integrated into the cabin experience.
While Hyundai has not yet revealed complete details of the production-specification interior, the sketch indicates a cabin designed for customers who spend much of their time using their vehicles in urban environments.
Hyundai BAYON designed for urban SUV buyers
The Hyundai BAYON has been conceived around the idea of providing SUV confidence in an urban-focused package.
Hyundai says the vehicle is aimed at customers looking for the visual appeal, road presence and sense of capability associated with an SUV, while also meeting the requirements of modern city driving.
The exterior’s pronounced fenders, sculpted hood, distinctive lighting and robust stance are intended to reinforce this positioning. Inside, the focus shifts towards technology, connectivity and comfort.
The BAYON will therefore combine a more pronounced SUV character with Hyundai’s focus on intelligent mobility and everyday usability.
Hyundai BAYON India launch
The Hyundai BAYON is being developed as a global product, with India forming part of its rollout strategy. Hyundai has so far revealed the vehicle’s name and design sketches, while further details about its specifications, powertrain, features, variants and pricing are expected to be announced closer to its launch.
