Aragon, Spain, August 29, 2026: Marc Marquez beats Alex Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi to win the MotoGP Aragon Sprint, while Jorge Martin finishes fifth to remain 29 points behind his Aprilia teammate in the championship.

Marc Marquez continued his impressive record at MotorLand Aragon by claiming victory in the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix Tissot Sprint, securing his third Sprint win at the Spanish circuit.

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider made a lightning start from the front row and quickly moved into the lead, eventually finishing ahead of his younger brother Alex Marquez of BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP. Polesitter Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium for Aprilia Racing after losing the lead at the opening corner.

The result provided another twist in the 2026 MotoGP championship battle. Bezzecchi remains at the top of the standings, with teammate Jorge Martin now 29 points behind him after finishing fifth in the Sprint.

Marc Marquez Takes Control at Turn 1

Bezzecchi made a strong getaway from pole position but was unable to hold the advantage into Turn 1. Marc Marquez attacked immediately, braking deep and diving up the inside to take the lead.

Alex Marquez then capitalised on the opening, sweeping around the outside to move into second and demote Bezzecchi to third.

The three riders quickly established themselves at the front, with Marc Marquez setting the pace while Alex Marquez remained within striking distance and Bezzecchi stayed close behind.

Behind them, the battle for fourth became one of the highlights of the Sprint as championship contender Jorge Martin found himself fighting with Pedro Acosta and Raul Fernandez.

Acosta initially emerged ahead of the group and began pulling away, but Martin fought back strongly. By Lap 3, the Aprilia rider had recovered fourth place from the KTM rider.

Martin Loses Ground Again

Martin’s progress was interrupted on Lap 5 when he had a moment at the final corner, allowing Acosta to retake fourth.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider then began closing in on the podium battle, while Martin was unable to respond and settled into fifth.

At the sharp end, Marc Marquez maintained a gap of just under one second over Alex Marquez, while Bezzecchi remained approximately half a second behind the Gresini rider.

Despite the close margins, neither Alex Marquez nor Bezzecchi was able to mount a serious attack on the riders ahead.

Acosta Threatens Bezzecchi Late On

Acosta emerged as a late threat to Bezzecchi’s podium position.

The KTM rider steadily closed the gap to the Aprilia machine during the final laps and looked increasingly dangerous as the Sprint entered its closing stages.

However, with only 11 laps on the schedule, Acosta ran out of time to make a decisive move.

Marc Marquez crossed the line to secure the 12 points for winning the MotoGP Sprint, completing another dominant performance at MotorLand Aragon. Alex Marquez finished second, while Bezzecchi held on for third.

Acosta took fourth ahead of Martin.

Aldeguer Wins Late Battle for Sixth

The fight behind the leading five riders remained intense until the chequered flag.

Fermin Aldeguer made a decisive final-lap move on Diogo Moreira to take sixth, leaving the Brazilian rider seventh.

Raul Fernandez brought his Trackhouse MotoGP machine home in eighth, while Johann Zarco marked his return to the points with ninth place for Castrol Honda LCR.

Zarco narrowly held off Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP rider Jack Miller, who completed the top 10.

Fabio Di Giannantonio’s Sprint ended in a crash, although the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider was reported to be okay.

Francesco Bagnaia endured another difficult session for Ducati Lenovo Team, finishing outside the points in 11th place.

Bezzecchi Maintains 29-Point Championship Advantage

Despite missing out on Sprint victory, Bezzecchi’s third-place finish means he continues to lead the MotoGP World Championship.

The Italian now holds a 29-point advantage over Jorge Martin heading into Sunday’s Aragon Grand Prix.

Marc Marquez’s Sprint victory, meanwhile, adds further momentum to his weekend after starting the race from the front row. The Ducati rider’s strong pace at MotorLand Aragon could make him a major contender for Sunday’s full-length Grand Prix.

The riders will now return to MotorLand Aragon for Sunday’s MotoGP Grand Prix race, with the championship battle between Bezzecchi and Martin set for another crucial chapter.
