Formula E GEN4 Makes UK Public Debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed with Dan Ticktum
Goodwood, UK, July 2, 2026: The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is set to unveil its fastest and most advanced race car yet as the all-new GEN4 Formula E challenger makes its first public appearance in the UK at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 9-12. CUPRA KIRO driver Dan Ticktum will take the wheel of the next-generation electric racer for a demonstration run up the iconic 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill.
The highly anticipated demonstration will give thousands of motorsport fans their first opportunity to witness the GEN4 in action before it enters competitive racing in the 2026/27 Formula E season.
Formula E’s Fastest-Ever Race Car Heads to Goodwood
The GEN4 represents the biggest technological leap in Formula E’s history, delivering significantly improved performance, speed and efficiency over the current GEN3 Evo.
The new electric single-seater is capable of:
- Top speeds exceeding 335 km/h
- 0-100 km/h in approximately 1.8 seconds
- 0-200 km/h in just 4.4 seconds
- Up to 600kW (815hp) in ATTACK MODE
- Permanent all-wheel drive, making it the only single-seater race car with this configuration
Formula E says the GEN4 produces 71 percent more power than the current GEN3 Evo in ATTACK MODE and is expected to be approximately 10 seconds per lap faster in qualifying trim while delivering at least five seconds per lap quicker race pace on street circuits.
Complete Formula E Evolution on Display
In another major attraction for visitors, Formula E will showcase every generation of its race cars together for the first time.
The display will feature:
- GEN1
- GEN2
- GEN3
- GEN4
Former and current Formula E drivers and personalities will also attend the festival, celebrating more than a decade of electric racing innovation since the championship’s launch in 2012.
Sustainable Innovation Remains at the Core
While performance has increased dramatically, sustainability continues to remain central to the GEN4 project.
The new race car has been designed to become the world’s first racing machine that is intended to be 100 percent recyclable or reusable at the end of its lifecycle.
Key sustainability highlights include:
- At least 20 percent recycled materials used across major components
- Tyres made with 65 percent renewable and recycled materials
- Battery technology that contains no rare earth minerals
Dan Ticktum Excited for GEN4 Showcase
CUPRA KIRO driver Dan Ticktum said Goodwood provides the ideal stage to introduce Formula E’s next generation of racing.
“Goodwood is the ultimate celebration of car culture, so it’s the perfect place to show the fastest single-seater Formula E has ever built. The GEN4 is 50% more powerful in race mode than the current cars, handles like an absolute weapon with that permanent all-wheel drive, and it’s ready to fly up the hill. It’s going to be wild – I’m excited.”
