Maruti Suzuki Registers Highest-Ever Monthly Sales of 242,688 Units in May 2026

New Delhi, India, June 1, 2026: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved its highest-ever monthly sales performance, reporting total sales of 242,688 units in May 2026, driven by robust demand across passenger vehicles, utility vehicles and export markets.

The country’s largest carmaker also recorded its highest-ever domestic sales volume of 193,535 units, marking a significant increase compared to 138,690 units sold during the same month last year.

The company’s sales to other OEMs stood at 7,239 units, while exports reached 41,914 units, reflecting strong international demand for Maruti Suzuki vehicles.

Domestic Sales Surge Nearly 40%

Maruti Suzuki’s total domestic passenger vehicle sales climbed to 190,337 units in May 2026, compared to 135,962 units in May 2025, representing growth of nearly 40 percent.

Including light commercial vehicles, domestic sales reached a record 193,535 units, up from 138,690 units during the corresponding period last year.

The company sold 3,198 units of the Super Carry light commercial vehicle, compared to 2,728 units in May 2025.

Utility Vehicles Continue Strong Momentum

The utility vehicle segment remained a major growth driver for Maruti Suzuki.

Models including the Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris and XL6 collectively recorded sales of 79,267 units, a substantial increase from 54,899 units in May 2025.

The segment delivered growth of over 44 percent year-on-year, highlighting the increasing consumer preference for SUVs and multi-purpose vehicles in the Indian market.

Passenger Car Sales Remain Robust

Maruti Suzuki’s passenger car portfolio comprising the Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR also posted strong gains.

The Mini segment, including Alto and S-Presso, recorded sales of 16,275 units, more than doubling from 6,776 units in May last year.

Meanwhile, the Compact and Mid-Size segment contributed 81,555 units, up from 61,960 units in May 2025.

Combined passenger car sales stood at 97,830 units, compared to 68,736 units a year ago.

Exports Reach New Highs

Maruti Suzuki’s export business continued its upward trajectory with overseas shipments rising to 41,914 units, compared to 31,219 units in May 2025.

The strong export performance helped push the company’s total sales volume beyond the 240,000-unit mark for the first time in a single month.

FY2026-27 Starts on a Strong Note

For the April-May period of FY2026-27, Maruti Suzuki reported cumulative sales of 482,334 units, up from 359,868 units during the same period of FY2025-26.

Domestic sales, including OEM supplies, stood at 400,366 units, while exports reached 81,968 units during the first two months of the financial year.

The record-breaking May performance underscores Maruti Suzuki’s strong market position as India’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer and signals continued momentum in both domestic and international markets.
