Kia India Posts Highest-Ever May Sales, Registers 23.6% Growth in 2026

New Delhi, India, June 1, 2026: Kia India has recorded its highest-ever sales performance for the month of May since commencing operations in India, reporting wholesale dispatches of 27,586 units in May 2026.

The achievement represents a 23.6% year-on-year growth compared to the 22,315 units sold during May 2025, underscoring the brand’s growing popularity in the Indian passenger vehicle market.

Strong Momentum Continues in 2026

Kia India’s growth momentum has continued throughout 2026, with the automaker reporting year-to-date (YTD) sales of 139,197 units between January and May.

This marks a 14.6% increase over the 121,514 units sold during the corresponding period last year, driven by sustained demand across Kia’s SUV, MPV and electric vehicle portfolios.

The company attributed the growth to its strategy of offering premium, technology-focused mobility solutions tailored to evolving customer preferences.

Seltos Leads Sales Charge

The recently updated Kia Seltos continued to be the brand’s top-performing model, crossing the 10,000-unit monthly sales mark consistently since its launch in January 2026.

Kia said the SUV’s bold styling, advanced technology package and class-leading safety credentials have played a key role in its success. The new Seltos recently earned a five-star rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), making it one of the highest-rated internal combustion engine vehicles tested in India.

The Kia Sonet also remained a strong contributor, benefiting from wider availability of automatic transmission options across both petrol and diesel variants.

Carens Clavis and Syros Gain Momentum

Kia reported encouraging market response for the MY26 version of the Kia Syros, citing improved variant packaging, enhanced accessibility to automatic transmissions and a stronger value proposition.

Meanwhile, the newly introduced Kia Carens Clavis and Kia Carens Clavis EV continue to gain traction among buyers seeking spacious family-oriented vehicles with advanced technology and flexible seating configurations.

Battery-as-a-Service Boosts EV Accessibility

Kia India highlighted the positive response to its recently launched Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) initiative, which aims to make electric vehicle ownership more affordable by reducing upfront purchase costs.

The programme forms a key pillar of Kia’s broader electric mobility strategy and is designed to encourage greater EV adoption by improving affordability and convenience for customers.

Leadership Commentary

Commenting on the record-breaking performance, Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing at Kia India, said the company’s success reflects the strong alignment of its product portfolio with changing customer expectations.

According to Sood, strong demand for the Seltos and Sonet, along with positive market reception for the Carens Clavis, Clavis EV and MY26 Syros, has helped sustain Kia’s growth momentum while initiatives such as Battery-as-a-Service are making electric mobility more accessible to Indian consumers.

Expanding Retail and Service Network

Kia India’s nationwide presence now spans 891 customer touchpoints across 402 cities, strengthening accessibility for customers in both metropolitan and emerging markets.

The company has also expanded its used-car business through 130 Certified Pre-Owned outlets, offering vehicle exchange programmes, instant payments and enhanced ownership support services.
