Bengaluru, India, September 2, 2026: Simple Energy, the Bengaluru-headquartered electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has entered India’s family scooter segment with the launch of the Simple Wave. The new electric scooter is built around everyday family use, combining a spacious layout, segment-leading storage, and a claimed IDC range of up to 243 km.

Simple Wave Lineup: Three Variants, Six Models

The Simple Wave range is offered in three variants — Simple Wave S, Simple Wave, and Simple Wave + — spread across six models with different battery, display, and connectivity options. This gives buyers the flexibility to choose a configuration based on their daily riding needs and budget.

At the top of the range, the Simple Wave + comes with a 5 kWh battery pack delivering a 243 km IDC range and a top speed of 90 km/h. It is powered by a 6.4 kW PMSM motor that produces 179 Nm of wheel torque. The lineup also includes 3.7 kWh, 2.7 kWh, and 2.2 kWh battery options, offering IDC ranges of up to 171 km and 110 km respectively. Every variant gets Ride, Eco, and ECOX riding modes, while the higher-spec models add a Sport mode.

Industry-First “Pill” Storage Adds Up to 70 Litres

A standout feature of the Simple Wave is its focus on storage. The scooter introduces an industry-first auxiliary storage unit called the Pill, offering an additional 4 litres of capacity. Combined with an under-seat compartment of up to 63 litres and a 3-litre glove box, the Simple Wave offers a class-leading total storage capacity of up to 70 litres — a key feature for family and daily-use riders who need to carry more on board.

Design, Chassis and Practical Features

Built on a tubular steel frame, the Simple Wave uses telescopic front suspension paired with progressive twin rear shock absorbers, and rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels. Braking is handled by a front disc and rear drum setup with a Combined Braking System (CBS).

Practical touches for everyday riders include a 775 mm seat height, 175 mm ground clearance, and 300 mm water-wading capability — useful for riders navigating waterlogged roads during monsoons. The scooter has a 1,347 mm wheelbase and a payload capacity of 150 kg, with an IP67-rated battery pack and motor for weather protection. Power is delivered through a PMSM motor paired with a chain-drive transmission for smooth, efficient acceleration.

Charging and Connected Features

The range-topping Simple Wave + supports fast charging from 0-80% in as little as 2 hours 15 minutes, while a 750W portable charger allows convenient charging at home.

Depending on the variant, buyers can choose between a 7-inch TFT display or a 5-inch EBN display. TFT variants come with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, GPS tracking, call and music controls, USB charging, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Higher variants also add traction control, regenerative braking, hill hold assist, reverse mode, crawl mode, and vehicle tracking. All models get full-LED lighting, including headlamp, DRLs, taillamp, and turn indicators.

Price and Availability

The Simple Wave lineup is available at an introductory price starting from ₹1,09,999 (ex-showroom). Bookings are open across all Simple Energy touchpoints and on the company’s official website. Deliveries are scheduled to begin from the last week of September 2026.

Commenting on the launch, Suhas Rajkumar, Founder & CEO of Simple Energy, said the launch of the Simple Wave marks a defining moment for the company. He noted that Simple Energy set out with the belief that electric mobility could be engineered differently in India, and has since built the technology, manufacturing capability, and product platform to bring that vision to the family scooter segment — one of the largest categories in the Indian two-wheeler market. He added that the company’s focus remains on building technology-led electric vehicles designed for how India moves.

Simple Energy’s Manufacturing and Expansion Plans

Simple Energy currently has a manufacturing capacity of 3,000 units per month and is investing further in expanding its battery production line. The company expects capacity utilisation to rise to 75-80% by the end of the next financial year, up from around 35% currently.

The company is presently selling approximately 1,500 electric scooters per month through more than 75 outlets across 63 Indian cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Patna, Nagpur, Bhopal, Agra, Goa, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, and Chennai. Simple Energy aims to scale monthly sales to 10,000 units by March 2027 through capacity expansion and wider network growth.

To date, the company has raised ₹736 crore from investors including Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani’s Family Office, Balamurugan Arumugam, the Haran Family Office, the Desai Family Office (promoters of Apar Industries), and the Vasavi Family Office — including a recent funding round of ₹250 crore that will support product development, manufacturing, and business expansion.
