Formula E Mourns Death of Citroën Racing Team Principal Cyril Blais Ahead of Tokyo E-Prix

Monaco, Monte Carlo, July 20, 2026: The Formula E community is mourning the loss of Cyril Blais, Team Principal of the Citroën Racing Formula E Team, whose passing was confirmed on Monday by Monaco Sports Group (MSG), the team’s operator.

The announcement has prompted an outpouring of tributes from Formula E, Citroën, Stellantis Motorsport, the FIA, and teams across the all-electric racing championship, with organizers confirming that Blais will be honoured during this weekend’s Tokyo E-Prix.

MSG said its thoughts and deepest condolences are with Blais’ family, friends, loved ones, and everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Formula E Community Pays Tribute

Beth Paretta, Managing Director of the Citroën Racing Formula E Team, described Blais as a leader who inspired the team with his commitment and passion.

“We are all so saddened to lose Cyril. Many of the team have known and worked with him for several years,” Paretta said.

She added that the team would honour his memory by continuing to race with the same dedication and passion that he instilled in everyone around him, while respecting the wishes of his family.

Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds also paid tribute, calling Blais’ passing a devastating loss for the championship.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of our colleague and friend, Cyril,” Dodds said.

“We have lost an extraordinary colleague and someone many of us were proud to call a friend. The entire Formula E paddock is supporting one another through this incredibly difficult period.”

Dodds confirmed that the Citroën Racing Formula E Team and the wider Formula E community will pay tribute to Blais and celebrate his contribution to the championship during the Tokyo E-Prix weekend.

Citroën and Stellantis Honour Long-Time Motorsport Leader

Citroën CEO Xavier Chardon and Stellantis Motorsport Senior Vice President Olivier Jansonnie said Blais had played a pivotal role in the manufacturer’s Formula E programme since the beginning of its partnership with MSG.

In a joint statement, they described his death as a particularly painful loss and extended their condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at MSG, Stellantis Motorsport and Citroën.

FIA President Offers Condolences

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem also issued a statement praising Blais’ professionalism, passion and integrity.

“The entire motorsport community is deeply saddened by this tragic news, and Cyril will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know and work with him,” Ben Sulayem said.

He added that Blais earned the respect of colleagues, competitors and friends throughout the paddock and would be remembered not only for his achievements but also for the integrity and dedication he brought to the sport.
