Formula E GEN4 Race Car Makes Spectacular UK Debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026
Goodwood, England, July 12, 2026: The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has unveiled the future of electric racing in the UK, with its revolutionary GEN4 race car making its public debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Driven by British racer Dan Ticktum, the next-generation Formula E challenger tackled the iconic 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill, giving thousands of motorsport fans their first glimpse of the championship’s fastest and most technologically advanced race car yet.
Making its first UK appearance after its global reveal at Circuit Paul Ricard in April and a demonstration during the Monaco E-Prix, the GEN4 took centre stage at one of the world’s biggest motorsport festivals. Over four days, an estimated 250,000 spectators witnessed the electric racer in action ahead of its competitive debut in the 2026/27 Formula E World Championship.
Driving for CUPRA Kiro, Dan Ticktum showcased not only the car’s incredible performance but also an innovative AI-powered driver coaching system developed in collaboration with Google Cloud. The proof-of-concept system processed live telemetry, video and audio feeds entirely on a Google Pixel 10 Pro smartphone, delivering real-time coaching during the hill climb. Formula E said the demonstration proved that next-generation consumer hardware can successfully handle complex, mission-critical motorsport data processing under extreme conditions.
The GEN4 represents the biggest technological leap in Formula E’s history. The all-electric race car is capable of speeds exceeding 335 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in approximately 1.8 seconds, while reaching 200 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. In ATTACK MODE, the car produces up to 600 kW of power, equivalent to 815 hp, making it the most powerful Formula E machine ever built.
Another major milestone is that the GEN4 becomes the first Formula E car to feature permanent all-wheel drive, significantly improving acceleration, grip and overall performance.
Beyond its outright pace, sustainability remains central to the championship’s philosophy. Formula E says the GEN4 has been designed to become the world’s first racing car that is 100% recyclable or reusable. At least 20% of the materials used across key components are recycled, while its tyres are manufactured using 65% renewable and recycled materials.
Goodwood also celebrated Formula E’s technological journey by displaying every generation of the championship’s race cars together for the first time. The GEN1, GEN2, GEN3 and GEN4 cars were showcased alongside participation from manufacturers and teams including Jaguar TCS Racing, DS Automobiles and Mahindra Racing, highlighting more than a decade of innovation in electric motorsport.
Dan Ticktum described the experience as an exciting opportunity to introduce British fans to Formula E’s next chapter.
“It’s fantastic to bring the GEN4 to Goodwood Festival of Speed and give British fans their first chance to see it in action. The power, the grip from the all-wheel drive and the acceleration are on another level. Without a doubt this is a huge step forward for Formula E.”
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds said Goodwood was the ideal venue for the UK debut of the championship’s most advanced race car.
“The GEN4 represents the biggest performance leap in Formula E’s history. We’re proud to showcase it to thousands of fans and demonstrate the future of electric racing performance while continuing to push the boundaries of innovation and sustainability.”
Pablo Martino, Head of Formula E at the FIA, added that the championship continues to lead the evolution of electric racing technology and is now focused on final development with manufacturers before the car begins racing later this year.
The GEN4 will undergo official pre-season testing in Madrid this November before making its competitive debut at the opening round of the 2026/27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on December 18-19.
