Tesla Model Y L Launched in India: A New Era of Family Electric SUVs Begins
India, April 22, 2026: Tesla has officially unveiled the all-new Tesla Model Y L, marking a significant step in its India journey with a premium, family-focused electric SUV.
Designed as a three-row, six-seater, the Model Y L brings together space, performance, and cutting-edge technology, positioning itself as a compelling option for Indian buyers looking to transition to electric mobility without compromising on comfort.
Bookings for the Model Y L are now open, with prices starting at ₹61.99 lakh, while deliveries are set to begin from June 2026 across the country.
At the heart of the Model Y L is its impressive performance. The SUV offers a driving range of up to 681 km (WLTP), making it one of the longest-range electric vehicles in its segment. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds, combining efficiency with strong on-road performance suited for both city commutes and long-distance travel.
Inside, Tesla has focused heavily on passenger comfort and flexibility. The cabin features second-row captain seats with ventilation, heating, powered armrests, and one-touch folding. The third row also gets power recline, folding functionality, and dedicated climate control, ensuring usability even for longer journeys. With enhanced headroom and legroom across all rows, the Model Y L is clearly designed with families in mind.
The premium experience extends to ride quality as well. With acoustic glass, adaptive suspension, and electronically controlled damping, the SUV is engineered to deliver a quieter, smoother drive, even on varied Indian road conditions.
Technology continues to be a core strength. The Tesla Model Y L comes equipped with an 18-speaker immersive audio system, along with a fully connected infotainment experience that includes apps such as Spotify, YouTube, and Netflix. Features like live traffic visualization, satellite maps, and over-the-air (OTA) updates further enhance the ownership experience.
Tesla is also strengthening its ecosystem in India alongside this launch. The company currently operates 5 Supercharger stations, with plans to expand further by adding more locations along key highways connecting major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Additionally, Tesla’s home charging program is already active across all states, making EV ownership more convenient.
On the ownership front, Tesla continues with its direct-to-customer model, supported by minimal maintenance requirements, remote diagnostics, and OTA updates. Service centres are already operational in key cities, with further expansion planned in the coming months.
The Model Y lineup in India includes multiple variants, with the Model Y L positioned as a long-range all-wheel-drive option, offering the highest range and performance within the range.
With its combination of long driving range, spacious six-seat configuration, premium features, and advanced technology, the Tesla Model Y L signals Tesla’s serious intent to capture the premium EV space in India.
As the Indian electric vehicle market continues to evolve, the Model Y L could play a key role in accelerating adoption, particularly among families looking for a practical yet high-tech electric SUV.
