Tata Motors Signs MoU with GEMS to Supply 100 Magna EV Intercity Coaches
In a significant step toward transforming long-distance travel in India, Tata Motors, the country’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Energy Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (GEMS) to supply 100 fully-electric Magna EV intercity coaches. The agreement was formalized at the Passenger Vehicle Expo 2.0 in Chennai, where Tata Motors also showcased its latest advancements in commercial electric mobility.
GEMS is the electric mobility arm of Universal Bus Services (UBS), a leading premium intercity travel brand in South India. The partnership will see UBS accelerate its transition to zero-emission mobility, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as a hub for sustainable transportation innovation.
Magna EV: Redefining Intercity Travel
The Tata Magna EV coach is a 44-seater, fully electric intercity bus designed to deliver up to 300 km of range on a single charge. Engineered for superior passenger comfort and safety, the coach includes:
- Ergonomic seating
- Electronic Braking System (EBS)
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Low noise operations for quieter, more relaxing travel
The Magna EV is part of Tata Motors’ expanding EV portfolio, which also includes the Starbus EV and Ultra EV for intra-city public transport solutions.
