Indian Racer Kavin Quintal Secures Double Podium Finish on 2026 Spanish Championship Debut
Jerez, Spain, June 3, 2026: Indian motorcycle racer Kavin Quintal made a sensational start to his 2026 Copa de España de Velocidad campaign by securing two podium finishes during the opening round of the Spanish championship at the iconic Circuito de Jerez.
Representing the BMW EasyRace Team, the 21-year-old rider from Chennai showcased impressive pace throughout the weekend, qualifying on the front row before delivering a pair of strong performances in the highly competitive Superbike 1000cc category.
Quintal qualified second fastest with a best lap time of 1:45.549, underlining his competitiveness from the outset. He converted that pace into a runner-up finish in Race 1, crossing the line just 0.605 seconds behind race winner Juan Maria Zarza. The Indian rider followed up with another podium result in Race 2, finishing third to complete a memorable debut weekend for his new team.
Strong Start With BMW EasyRace Team
The double podium result marks an encouraging beginning to Quintal’s first full season with BMW EasyRace Team, one of Spain’s leading motorcycle racing outfits. The Indian rider joined the squad in April after impressing the team during a wildcard appearance in 2025, when he finished fourth in his superbike debut in the championship.
For the 2026 season, Quintal has secured a full-time ride with the Eduardo Salvador Vera-led team, gaining access to top-level technical expertise and competitive BMW machinery as he takes on one of Europe’s toughest national championships.
Speaking after the successful weekend, Quintal said he was delighted with the team’s progress and determined to continue improving throughout the season.
“I am extremely happy with how the season has started. Joining EasyRace Team earlier this year for a full season was a major step in my career and everyone in the team has worked incredibly hard to help me settle in quickly. To come away from the opening round with two podium finishes is very encouraging, but this is only the beginning,” Quintal said.
He added that his focus remains on learning, improving and consistently fighting at the front while proudly representing India on the international stage.
One of India’s Brightest Motorsport Talents
Quintal has steadily emerged as one of India’s most promising motorcycle racers in recent years. He is currently the only Indian rider competing in the 2026 Copa de España de Velocidad and continues to break new ground for Indian motorsport.
In 2024, he created history by becoming the first Indian rider to compete in a Supersport 300 World Championship race during a WorldSBK weekend in the Czech Republic, further establishing his credentials on the international stage.
The strong results at Jerez provide an early indication that Quintal and BMW EasyRace Team could emerge as serious contenders in the 2026 Superbike 1000cc championship. With two podium finishes already secured, the Chennai rider has laid down a significant marker ahead of the remaining rounds of the season.
