TGR Haas F1 Team Signs Jack Doohan as Reserve Driver for 2026 Formula 1 Season
February 3, 2026 — TGR Haas F1 Team has announced the signing of Jack Doohan as an Official Reserve Driver for the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The 23-year-old Australian joins the American outfit after competing with Alpine during the opening rounds of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Doohan contested six races in 2025, starting from the Australian Grand Prix through to the Miami Grand Prix, before returning to reserve driver duties for the remainder of the championship. His arrival strengthens TGR Haas F1 Team’s driver line-up as Formula One prepares for a landmark season under new technical regulations.
The Queensland-born racer made his Formula 1 race debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, following two seasons as Alpine’s reserve driver. During that period, Doohan took part in multiple FP1 sessions and Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) programmes, building valuable experience ahead of his promotion to race and reserve roles.
Son of five-time MotoGP World Champion Mick Doohan, Jack Doohan boasts an impressive junior career record. He finished runner-up in the 2021 FIA Formula 3 Championship and went on to secure multiple race victories and third overall in the 2023 FIA Formula 2 standings.
For the 2026 season, TGR Haas F1 Team will operate with two reserve drivers, with Doohan joining Japan’s Ryō Hirakawa. Hirakawa has been embedded with the team since April 2025 and has already completed several TPC tests and FP1 outings, alongside his full-time commitments in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing.
“I’m thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team,” said Doohan. “It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career. I’m eager to begin working with the team and to take on the challenge of the 2026 season together.”
Team Principal Ayao Komatsu highlighted Doohan’s experience and commitment. “Jack brings a strong racing résumé and valuable experience as a Formula 1 reserve driver. Staying prepared while waiting for opportunities is demanding, and we’re confident his contribution will be an asset to the team,” Komatsu said.
TGR Haas F1 Team will next head to the Bahrain International Circuit for two official pre-season tests scheduled for February 11–13 and February 18–20. The 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship begins with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from March 6–8.
