Aston Martin Aramco Appoints Jenson Button as Team Ambassador Ahead of 2026 F1 Season

Silverstone, UK | 2 February 2026 — The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team has announced the appointment of 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button as Team Ambassador ahead of the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship.

Under a multi-year agreement, Button will support the team’s media, partner, and commercial programmes as Formula One prepares to enter a defining new era marked by sweeping technical regulation changes. His arrival coincides with Aston Martin Aramco’s transition into a full works partnership with Honda, alongside long-term collaborations with Aramco and Valvoline.

As the most recent British Formula One World Champion to retire from the sport, Button brings unmatched credibility, global recognition, and deep storytelling experience to the role. His career has spanned multiple regulatory eras, giving him a rare perspective as Formula One undergoes a major reset in 2026.

Button’s long-standing relationship with Honda is a central element of his appointment. He secured his maiden Formula One victory with the Japanese manufacturer at the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix and later added to his legacy by winning the Super GT Championship in Japan. That enduring partnership now continues as Honda returns as Aston Martin Aramco’s works power unit supplier.

The appointment also sees Button reunited with Fernando Alonso, his former team-mate during the 2015 and 2016 Formula One seasons, bringing together two World Champions with extensive experience at the highest level of the sport.

As Team Ambassador, Button will represent Aston Martin Aramco across global events, partner initiatives, and media engagements, helping to strengthen the team’s international profile and fan engagement as it builds toward long-term success in the new regulatory era.

“Joining Aston Martin Aramco during such a transformative time for both the team and the sport is incredibly exciting,” Button said. “Honda’s new works partnership was a huge draw for me, and the 2026 season is going to be fascinating. Being part of such an ambitious project is a real opportunity, and I can’t wait for Melbourne.”

Jefferson Slack, Managing Director of Commercial at Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team, added: “Jenson is one of the most respected figures in modern Formula One. His World Championship pedigree, deep experience with Honda, and ability to connect with fans and partners make him a valuable asset as we enter Formula One’s defining new era in 2026.”
