Tata Motors Launches Next-Generation Truck Portfolio: 17 New Models from 7 to 55 Tonnes Set New Benchmarks

New Delhi: In a landmark move poised to redefine India’s trucking ecosystem, Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has launched its next-generation portfolio of 17 trucks, spanning 7 to 55 tonnes. The comprehensive line-up introduces the all-new Azura series, the advanced Tata Trucks.ev electric range, and major upgrades to the Prima, Signa and Ultra platforms—setting new industry benchmarks in safety, uptime, efficiency and total cost of ownership.

Engineered to comply with stringent global safety norms (ECE R29 03), the new range is designed to maximise transporter profitability while supporting India’s transition to cleaner, smarter and more sustainable logistics.

Tata Motors Reinforces Leadership in a Rapidly Evolving Trucking Landscape

Launching the portfolio, Mr. Girish Wagh, MD & CEO, Tata Motors Ltd., said India’s logistics sector is undergoing a rapid transformation driven by infrastructure development, policy reforms and the demand for safer, cleaner and more efficient transport solutions.

“With the introduction of our next-generation portfolio—including the all-new Azura series, advanced high-efficiency powertrains, India’s widest range of zero-emission electric trucks built on the I-MOEV architecture, upgraded European-standard cabins, industry-leading safety features, and Fleet Edge digital services—we are shaping the future of Indian trucking,” he said.

“Guided by our ‘Better Always’ philosophy and aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, this portfolio strengthens India’s self-reliance and leadership in sustainable mobility.”

Introducing Azura: Redefining the ILMCV Segment

The all-new Azura series marks Tata Motors’ next big leap in the Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicle (ILMCV) segment, combining modern design, superior comfort and class-leading efficiency.

Key Highlights of Tata Azura:

  • New 3.6-litre diesel engine delivering best-in-class performance and fuel efficiency
  • Available in 7 to 19-tonne configurations
  • Contemporary styling with a bold grille and signature Trust Bar
  • All-new walkthrough cabin with D+2 seating, reclining seats and enhanced utility space
  • Ergonomically designed interiors for fatigue-free driving

Purpose-built for applications ranging from e-commerce and FMCG distribution to construction materials, agriculture, white goods and regional logistics, the Azura range is engineered to deliver high uptime, productivity and driver comfort.

World-Class Safety Standards for Indian Roads

Tata Motors has raised the bar on truck safety by upgrading its entire portfolio—including Azura, Signa, Prima and Ultra—to meet ECE R29 03 global crash safety standards.

The new trucks feature cabins designed for full frontal, rollover and side-impact protection, along with up to 23 India-specific advanced active safety technologies, including:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane departure warning
  • Collision mitigation systems

Integrated with the Fleet Edge connected vehicle platform, real-time driving behaviour monitoring further enhances on-road safety, making Tata Motors the only Indian CV manufacturer to adopt this global safety benchmark across its truck range.

Higher Payload, Better Fuel Efficiency and Smarter Fleet Management

To improve transporter profitability, Tata Motors has introduced multiple engineering upgrades across its diesel truck range:

  • Payload increase of up to 1.8 tonnes
  • Up to 7% improvement in fuel efficiency, led by the advanced 6.7-litre Cummins diesel engine

Supporting these gains is Fleet Edge Priority, offering deeper fleet insights such as real-time vehicle health, predictive analytics and trip optimisation—resulting in reduced downtime and improved asset utilisation.

Tata Trucks.ev: Accelerating India’s Electric Trucking Revolution

Driving the shift to green logistics, Tata Motors unveiled a comprehensive Tata Trucks.ev portfolio built on the new I-MOEV (Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle) Architecture.

Highlights of Tata Trucks.ev:

  • Ultra EV range: India’s most advanced electric light trucks in 7, 9 and 12-tonne variants
  • Prima E.55S electric prime mover: Delivers 470 kW power and 453 kWh battery capacity for heavy-duty operations
  • Prima E.28K electric tipper: High-torque, zero-emission solution for mining and construction

Designed for e-commerce, ports, construction and closed-loop logistics, the electric range combines zero emissions with lower operating costs, faster turnaround cycles and robust endurance.

With deep localisation of EV components, intelligent battery management systems and indigenously developed technologies, Tata Motors is making e-trucking more accessible, reliable and tailored for Indian conditions. The offering is further supported by customised financing options and a rapidly expanding nationwide charging ecosystem.
