Toyota Kirloskar Motor Launches tem: A First-of-its-Kind Experiential Museum Blending Indian Mindfulness and Japanese Culture
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has unveiled tem (Toyota Experiential Museum) — an innovative lifestyle and cultural hub that brings together Indian philosophy, Japanese culture, and Toyota’s advanced technology under one roof. Located at Phoenix Mall of Asia, Bengaluru, tem marks Toyota’s most immersive brand experience space in India to date.
Spread across 8,200 sq. ft, tem is designed as a five-senses experiential journey, offering captivating visuals, soothing audio, signature scents, tactile textures, and flavours that harmonise Japanese minimalism with Indian warmth.
A Space Inspired by ‘Happier Paths Together’
Speaking at the launch, Tadashi Asazuma, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said:
“At Toyota, our vision of creating ‘Happier Paths Together’ goes beyond mobility — it is about inspiring experiences that connect people, cultures, and emotions. tem is where Japanese values of serenity and respect for nature beautifully align with the Indian spirit of Sādhanā, offering a space for mindfulness and reflection.”
tem is designed to especially engage the youth, encouraging moments of pause, presence, and inner balance.
Inside tem: A Journey Through Art, Culture & Mindfulness
Built with minimalist aesthetics, tem allows visitors to explore at their own pace. The curated spaces offer a rare moment of calm, inviting guests to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with themselves.
Here’s what visitors can expect:
1. Immersive Seasonal Experience
The journey begins with a mirrored space that showcases infinite projections of seasonal transitions — celebrating how both India and Japan find harmony in nature’s changing rhythm. Visuals of summer warmth, monsoon calm, spring blossoms, and autumn glow unfold through light, colour, and motion.
2. Audio-Visual Collaboration with DRUM TAO
Guests are then transported into a dynamic multisensory world through an exclusive collaboration between Toyota and Japan’s DRUM TAO. The performance blends music, energy, and emotion, representing the powerful cultural connection between India and Japan.
3. Water Curtain Art Installation
A breathtaking centrepiece awaits visitors:
A cascading water curtain surrounding a satin-draped car, illuminated to create a serene, ethereal atmosphere. The interplay of mist, motion, and light makes it one of the most striking installations at tem.
4. Design Café – Merchandise Zone
tem features a curated lifestyle merchandise shop showcasing collectibles that blend heritage and contemporary design. Each piece reflects craftsmanship, simplicity, and the essence of tem, allowing visitors to take home a piece of the experience.
5. tem Café – The Matcha Corner
A homage to the Japanese tea tradition with an Indian twist, the Matcha Corner offers:
- Authentic Japanese matcha
- India-inspired flavours, including a mango-infused matcha
- A space designed for calm and connection
It celebrates the meeting of two cultures through taste, aroma, and ritual.
