Tata Motors Q2 FY26 Sales Surge: Passenger Vehicles Up 10%, Commercial Vehicles Rise 12%
Mumbai, October 2, 2025: Tata Motors Ltd. reported strong sales performance in the second quarter of FY26, with both its Commercial Vehicles (CV) and Passenger Vehicles (PV) divisions registering double-digit growth despite a challenging start to the quarter.
Commercial Vehicles Q2 FY26 Highlights
- Total CV Sales (Domestic + International): 94,681 units (↑12% YoY) vs. 84,281 units in Q2 FY25.
- Domestic CV Sales: 87,061 units (↑9% YoY).
- International Business (IB): 7,620 units (↑75% YoY).
- September 2025 CV Sales: 35,862 units (↑19% YoY).
Segment-wise performance:
- HCV Trucks: 24,056 units (↑5% YoY).
- ILMCV Trucks: 16,845 units (↑15% YoY).
- Passenger Carriers: 11,428 units (↑5% YoY).
- SCV Cargo & Pickup: 34,732 units (↑11% YoY), with September sales surging 30% YoY led by the new Ace Pro and Ace Gold+ launches.
MH&ICV Performance:
- September 2025 sales: 16,759 units (↑13% YoY).
- Q2 FY26 sales: 45,095 units (↑14% YoY).
Commenting on the performance, Mr. Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors Ltd., said:
“Q2 FY26 was a mixed quarter for the CV industry, starting with subdued demand but ending with a strong resurgence post-GST 2.0 rollout and festive season momentum. September emerged as our best-performing sales month of FY26, particularly in the SCV and pickup portfolio.”
Passenger Vehicles Q2 FY26 Highlights
- Total PV Sales (Domestic + International): 144,397 units (↑10% YoY) vs. 130,753 units in Q2 FY25.
- Domestic PV Sales (incl. EVs): 140,189 units (↑8% YoY).
- Exports (PV IB): 4,208 units (↑411% YoY).
- September 2025 PV Sales: 60,907 units (↑47% YoY), the highest ever monthly sales for Tata Motors PV.
Electric Vehicle (EV) & CNG Performance:
- EV sales in Q2 FY26: 24,855 units (↑59% YoY), contributing 17% to overall PV sales.
- September EV sales: 9,191 units (↑96% YoY).
- CNG sales touched a new peak with over 17,800 units sold in Q2 FY26 (↑105% YoY).
Key models driving growth:
- Nexon: Record-breaking 22,500+ units in September, the highest-ever monthly sales for a Tata Motors PV.
- Harrier & Safari: Strong demand for the Adventure X edition, marking best-ever combined sales.
- Punch: Continued momentum in the compact SUV segment.
Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said:
“September 2025 was a watershed month with record PV sales of 60,907 units. Our EV portfolio achieved its best-ever performance, while Nexon set a new benchmark for monthly sales. With festive demand, GST benefits, and strong customer interest, we are confident of sustaining this growth in H2 FY26.”
Outlook for H2 FY26
Tata Motors expects demand to remain strong through the festive season, driven by:
- Higher consumption and infrastructure activity.
- The full impact of GST 2.0 reforms.
- Strong product pipeline across EVs, CNG, and conventional segments.
- Expanding international footprint, with South Africa emerging as a key growth market.
With commercial vehicles gaining from construction and mining demand and passenger vehicles benefiting from record EV adoption, Tata Motors is well-positioned to accelerate momentum in the second half of FY26.
