Tesla Opens Experience Center in Mumbai; Model Y Launched in India Starting at ₹59.89 Lakh
Global EV leader Tesla Inc. has officially launched its operations in India with the opening of its first Tesla Experience Center in Mumbai. This landmark entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets is part of Tesla’s broader mission to accelerate the global transition to sustainable energy.
Model Y Makes Its Indian Debut
Marking the launch, Tesla unveiled the redesigned Model Y, the world’s best-selling electric vehicle in 2023 and 2024, now available in India in two trims:
- Rear-Wheel Drive
- Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive
With a starting price of ₹59,89,000, the Model Y brings together performance, range, and design. Key specs include:
- 0–100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds
- Up to 622 km range (WLTP)
- 2,130+ litres of cargo space
- Seating for up to 5 passengers
- Cyber-inspired lightbar front and rear design
Tesla Design Studio Now Live in India
Tesla also launched its Design Studio for India on July 15, enabling customers to customize their Model Y — from exterior and interior finishes to features. Deliveries and registration will initially begin in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, with the first units expected to arrive by Q3 2025.
Charging Network and Free Home Charger
Tesla has also revealed plans to expand charging infrastructure across the country:
- First indoor hybrid charging station (Superchargers + Destination chargers) to open soon
- Multiple Supercharging and Destination Charging stations will be rolled out across strategic locations nationwide
- Superchargers can charge up to 267 km in just 15 minutes at peak efficiency (250 kW)
As part of its India launch offer, Tesla will provide a complimentary wall connector charger with every new vehicle purchase — to be installed at customers’ homes for overnight charging.

Tesla reaffirmed its commitment to building an end-to-end customer experience in India, with investments in:
- Experience Centers
- After-sales service
- Local support and fast-charging network infrastructure
