Tata Motors Begins Deliveries of Prima E.55S Electric Trucks to BillionE Mobility, Secures Order for 250 More Units
Bengaluru, April 10, 2026: Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle maker, has commenced deliveries of its advanced Prima E.55S electric prime movers to BillionE Mobility, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition toward zero-emission heavy-duty freight transport.
In a strong endorsement of electric trucking, Tata Motors also announced a fresh order for 250 additional Prima E.55S units, highlighting accelerating adoption of sustainable logistics solutions in India. The trucks will be rolled out in phases and deployed across major freight corridors spanning Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi NCR, and Haryana, supporting long-haul transportation of key industrial goods such as steel and cement.
The first batch of deliveries was handed over in the presence of Girish Wagh, Kartikey Hariyani, and Rajesh Kaul, along with senior leadership from both organisations.
Kartikey Hariyani emphasized that BillionE Mobility is focused on scaling electric commercial vehicle deployment across real-world intercity freight operations, with a roadmap to induct up to 1,500 heavy-duty electric trucks over the next 6 to 18 months. He noted that the Prima E.55S, equipped with a segment-leading 450 kWh battery, offers the reliability and operational efficiency required for demanding logistics applications.
Highlighting the engineering behind the vehicle, Rajesh Kaul stated that the Prima E.55S has been developed with an application-led approach, integrating cutting-edge technologies such as India’s first high-performance e-axle, an advanced battery management system, and dual charging ports. These features ensure enhanced uptime, energy efficiency, and lower total cost of ownership, making electric trucking commercially viable for fleet operators.
The Tata Prima E.55S is part of Tata Motors’ growing Trucks.EV portfolio and is built on the company’s i-MoEV electric vehicle architecture. It features a full-electric drivetrain with regenerative braking and delivers a range of up to 350 km on a single charge, powered by a robust 450 kWh battery pack.
Key highlights of the Prima E.55S include:
