Tata Motors PV Sales Hit Record High in FY26, Q4 Crosses 2 Lakh Units with Strong EV Momentum

Mumbai, April 1, 2026: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (TMPV) has delivered a record-breaking performance in FY 2025โ€“26, clocking its highest-ever annual sales of over 6.4 lakh units, marking a 15% year-on-year growthโ€”nearly double the overall industry growth of 8%.

The company also achieved a milestone Q4 performance, with total sales of 201,368 units, registering a 37% YoY growth, making it the highest-ever quarterly sales in its history.

Strong Finish to FY26 with Record Q4 Sales

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles reported 66,971 units in March 2026, reflecting a 29% growth over the same period last year. Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 66,192 units, up 28% YoY, while international business volumes saw sharp growth.

The companyโ€™s Q4 momentum was driven by strong demand across segments, particularly SUVs and electrified powertrains, helping it significantly outperform the broader market.

EV Growth Accelerates as Key Differentiator

Electric vehicles continued to be a major growth engine for Tata Motors. The company recorded:

  • FY26 EV sales: 92,120 units (+43% YoY)
  • Q4 EV sales: ~26,931 units (+69% YoY)
  • March 2026 EV wholesales: ~9,500 units (record high)

This performance reinforces Tata Motorsโ€™ leadership in Indiaโ€™s EV segment, supported by a strong product lineup and growing consumer confidence in electric mobility.

SUV Portfolio Drives Market Leadership

Tataโ€™s SUV lineup played a pivotal role in its growth story, with the Tata Nexon emerging as the highest-selling car in H2 FY26. Alongside it, the Tata Punch ranked among the top-selling SUVs, making both models the top two SUV performers during the period.

The strong traction highlights Tata Motorsโ€™ growing dominance in the SUV segment, supported by a wide and competitive product portfolio.

CNG and Multi-Powertrain Strategy Deliver Results

Beyond EVs, Tata Motors also saw industry-leading growth in CNG vehicles, with volumes crossing 1.7 lakh units, registering a 24% YoY growthโ€”outpacing the segment.

The companyโ€™s multi-powertrain strategy, spanning petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric options, has enabled it to cater to diverse customer needs and strengthen its market position.

International Business and Market Position

Tata Motors also reported robust international business growth, with FY26 volumes exceeding 10,000 units, driven in part by its re-entry into markets like South Africa.

The company secured the #2 position in both wholesales and Vahan registrations in H2 FY26, underscoring its rising competitiveness in the Indian passenger vehicle market.

Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., stated that FY26 was a landmark year, driven by record volumes, strong EV growth, and increasing adoption of greener technologies.
