Marco Bezzecchi Makes MotoGP History with Fifth Straight Win as Aprilia Dominate in Texas
Austin, Texas, USA, March 30, 2026: Marco Bezzecchi continued his sensational run of form by storming to a historic fifth consecutive victory, leading an emphatic 1-2 finish for Aprilia Racing in a dramatic MotoGP showdown on Sunday. The Italian’s dominance places him among elite company, becoming only the third rider in history to achieve five Grand Prix wins in a row—alongside legends Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini.
Bezzecchi’s triumph also marks the first time since Marc Marquez in 2014 that a rider has won the opening three races of a MotoGP season, underlining his growing authority in the 2026 title race.
The race burst into life immediately as Pedro Acosta launched brilliantly from the front row to grab the holeshot for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. However, Bezzecchi wasted no time in applying pressure, muscling his way past the young Spaniard in a tense early exchange that even saw the two riders bang fairings, sending debris flying.
Close behind, Jorge Martin—fresh from Sprint success—slotted into third before launching his own атака on Acosta. Despite an early failed attempt and a heart-stopping save at Turn 1, the Spaniard eventually surged into second, sealing another strong result for Aprilia.
The midfield battle was fierce. Fabio Di Giannantonio initially held off pressure from Marc Marquez, while Francesco Bagnaia and Joan Mir joined the scrap. Marquez, however, had to serve a Long Lap penalty for a prior incident, dropping him down the order.
Bezzecchi’s relentless pace saw him rewrite the record books mid-race, surpassing the modern-era benchmark for consecutive laps led—previously held by Jorge Lorenzo—and extending it to a staggering 121 laps by the chequered flag.
Further back, rising star Ai Ogura delivered a standout performance, slicing through the field with bold overtakes before his charge was cut short by a technical issue. Meanwhile, a thrilling multi-rider fight involving Enea Bastianini, Alex Marquez and Marc Marquez kept fans on edge in the closing laps.
At the front, however, Bezzecchi remained untouchable. Managing his pace expertly, he crossed the line 1.7 seconds clear of Martin to seal yet another commanding win. The result also secured Aprilia’s second consecutive 1-2 finish—an unprecedented feat for the factory team.
Acosta completed the podium in third, capping off a strong recovery ride after early contact, while Di Giannantonio finished fourth as the top Ducati rider. Marc Marquez held off late pressure to claim fifth, just ahead of Bastianini, with Alex Marquez in seventh.
The top 10 was rounded out by Raul Fernandez in eighth and Luca Marini in ninth, both benefiting from a late drop in pace from Bagnaia, who slipped down the order in the closing stages.
With momentum firmly on his side, Bezzecchi now heads into the European leg of the season as the rider to beat. As MotoGP prepares for its next stop at Jerez, Aprilia’s dominance—and Bezzecchi’s record-breaking streak—have firmly reshaped the 2026 championship narrative.
