Hyundai Launches New EXTER in India with Enhanced Design, Tech and Safety; Prices Start at ₹5.79 Lakh
Gurugram, March 20, 2026: Hyundai Motor India Limited has officially launched the new Hyundai EXTER, introducing a refreshed version of its popular entry-level SUV with upgraded styling, improved interiors, smarter connectivity, and enhanced safety features.
Building on the success of the EXTER, which has already garnered over 2 lakh customers in India, the latest iteration aims to strengthen its appeal among young buyers and families looking for a versatile and feature-rich compact SUV.
Speaking at the launch, Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, said the new EXTER embodies a renewed “Drive to Shine” philosophy, offering a blend of bold design, advanced technology, and everyday practicality.
The new Hyundai EXTER brings a more assertive SUV stance with a redesigned front and rear profile, featuring a wider front fascia, a new black radiator grille, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. Hyundai claims the EXTER remains the tallest SUV in its segment and offers the longest wheelbase, translating into improved cabin space and passenger comfort. Additional exterior enhancements include a new tailgate design, C-pillar garnish, muscular wheel arch cladding, and a sporty wing-type spoiler, giving it a stronger road presence.
Inside, the cabin receives a notable upgrade with a dual-tone navy and grey theme, a new 3D carbon pattern dashboard, and a sporty D-cut steering wheel. The SUV also introduces first-in-segment metal pedals, enhancing its driver-focused appeal. Comfort has been improved with features such as driver seat height adjustment and adjustable rear headrests now standard across all variants, along with a generous 391-litre boot space.
On the technology front, the EXTER continues to stand out with segment-leading features such as a built-in dashcam, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car technology offering over 60 features. The SUV also includes a digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, OTA updates, and more than 300 embedded voice commands that function even without internet connectivity, ensuring convenience on the go.
Powering the new EXTER is Hyundai’s reliable 1.2-litre 4-cylinder Kappa petrol engine, offered with both manual and AMT transmission options. The SUV also comes with a Hy-CNG Duo variant featuring a bi-fuel petrol-CNG setup with dual cylinders, designed to retain usable boot space while improving fuel efficiency for daily commuting.
Safety remains a key focus, with the new EXTER offering over 45 advanced safety features and 30 standard safety features across variants. Key highlights include six airbags as standard, along with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), reinforcing Hyundai’s commitment to democratizing safety in the segment.
The new Hyundai EXTER is available in a range of vibrant colour options, including two new shades — Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte — along with dual-tone choices.
Pricing for the new Hyundai EXTER starts at ₹5.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹9.41 lakh for the top-end petrol AMT variant, while CNG variants start at ₹6.99 lakh. Customers can book the SUV for ₹11,000 at Hyundai dealerships nationwide or through the company’s online platform.
